erik as a hd employee? i dont think he can,and i dont think they will.i think its best to cut it off and move on.
he built from a barn before, and with no money.years gone by he must have assets and can sell some and be a small maker if he has not been crushed emotionally.when he sorts it all out and gets pissed,i bet is when the wheels will start turning.he has had such a huge impact on bikes and racing,i just cant imagine his personality type being satisfied by being a consultant for hd,when he KNOWS his ideas are bona fide and work, and he can do it on his own.
not sure if he can head up another maker's design teams.they all are very alike in what they make, would be agonizing to see him keyholed and held in where he cant explore and make change happen.

my final thoughts for erik--
emotionally,mentally......you have been thru worse..i know he is hurtn bad for his 200.you will survive and be back.
heal buddy....take stock and see if your tank has any left in it.
burt munro kept going
john britten did wonders all on his own
you are one of "those" guys erik.....and fishing and getting fat doesnt sound like you.
your loyal riders and fans are here, when you get something out of your head and back on the road we will be there for you.
