What are the odds of finding a race kit (either together or part by part) for the 2007 XB12Ss I bought a couple of weeks ago? I'd love an aftermarket exhaust and think the Buell system is the way to go. Too bad they don't make them anymore. I did a quick search on Ebay and didn't see anything. Am I wasting my time to keep looking or do these things surface now and again? | ||

Your odds are pretty good. I haven't seen them pop up on the classifieds here as much as they used to, but they still show up quite a bit. If you have a race license I am sure you can get one no problem. | ||

If I understand it right though, I'll need a race ECM and also the air filter. I suppose the filter will be easier to find (or maybe they still sell those new). But the exhaust won't do me any good without the race ECM . . . correct? | ||

It is a factory matched set, however you don't have to have the Race ECM. You can get a copy of ecmspy and load the race maps into a stock 07 or earlier ecm. The filter is just a k&n type free breather and your airbox should already have the extra holes cut. | ||

You can get the Race ECM, but your best bet is to get the bike custom mapped. It will run better that way. If you have a race license, you can contact your race parts dealer and they should be able to get you a race pipe and whatever goodies you need.  | ||

The issue I have with this approach is that the bike has an extended warranty that lasts all the way through 2012. My guess is that if I do my own messing with the ECM, the warranty is voided. My other guess is that if I put the Buell factory race ECM on the warranty is ok. I could be wrong. But that's my worry. } | ||

Yes, I understand the warranty thing. I did the same and bought the race ecm because of that. Last year those things were all over ebay, now you can't find one. don't worry one will show up eventually, look on the bright side there is a second muffler for you to choose from already. | ||
