Kind of a general question, but also for my XB9R... Anyone have any problems with getting insurance from any of the online companies like Geico or Progressive? I've been trying to get stuff through my local agent because they already have everything they need including checking account number to do the payment, and getting nowhere. What I thought would be simple is really starting to piss me off and I'm thinking of just going with the cheaper quote from either Geico or Progressive direct. The local agency is quoting Progressive but at almost $100 more because they will only go with the higher amounts of coverage. There is no lean on the bike (no comp or collision needed), and I've had my license for more than 10 years, riding off and on over those years. No tickets or accidents in the last 10+ years either, but no MSF course which they seem to think is golden. Starting to look like I won't have my bike on the road for another stinking week and another too much amount of money. And just so you know, I'm not a kid, turn 41 in November. Grrr!

I have an 03 9R insured with Geico. $9 a month for liability. I've had motorcycle rider's permit for less than a year and no MSF Course. I set it up online and had insurance in less than 15 mins.

They are getting me for $222 with 100,000/300,000 coverage, the lower amount was $13x.00 a year for Geico. Must be rates are VERY much different in different areas of the country. I can't even ride this thing for 3 months and my rates are higher??? Man this sucks.

But I did twist their arm and I have my card so I can go fight with the DMV on Friday.

Online worked best for me but I'm in Canada. Riders Plus recognizes it as a HD product and ignores the R.

MSF or equivalent, funny that I get discounted on a course I took 30 years ago.

I may have to take one this summer just so I can check the little box. I'll probably pick up at least one trick so it will probably be worth it, wonder if I can find one that runs on the Blast instead of the little Hondas I normally see around here.

greg_e, I took one on the Yamaha TW200. The bike was a hoot in the parking lot. You can drag the pegs if you exceed the course speed limits.

Honestly, if I was to take a course I would really prefer that I take it on my own bike so that I could apply the tips directly. I'll have the bug the dealer and see if they can get a course set up with 1125r or XB12R

I do know that in the past they have helped bring the Blasts to town for this, but the Blast is dead now (I almost expected to see one of the 2010 sitting in the showroom with literature sitting on it).

Progressive online took about 10 minutes from start to printed proof of insurance. $200 a year for basic coverage.

Pretty sure that's what I'm doing next year. It should have been so easy with the agent since they already had everything they needed in my file. That said I was surprised that they even had an email address set up.

I'm doing Progressive currently as well. I've been with them in the past as well.
Never had to go thru a claim with them, but sign-up and clerical support are quick and easy.

I contacted Dairyland directly, and they did right by me. about $350 for a Blast and an XB12Ss. Progressive and Geico and my car insurers were all higher.
