2nd gear, 3k rpm, cracked the whip good and hard, no clutch, just throttle. Took er to about 6k rpm, shifted into 3rd, and felt the front wheel gently contact the ground on it's way down. Normally I don't ride very hard, so it was kind of a pucker moment.

Do it again and again until it is no longer a surprise, then no more pucker.

Wait till you have a good pipe and ECM mods! That happens all the time and a lot easier!
Happy Riding

I did something similar last winter. At the stoplight I revved a little too high and my clutch slipped out of my gloves and the front popped up. Nothing big but it woke me up quick that morning.

I hate big winter riding gloves that reduce feel on the controls.

You haven't had any fun till you do it driving out of a turn!

Whatever you do, don't let it shock yo so much you chop the throttle.

"Accidentally" popped it up changing lanes last night, kind of like coming out of a turn. It was chilly last night, bike gets crazy when it gets chilly, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

All of my wheelies have been accidental. That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.

Jamiec ................I've never done a lot of wheelies, so it was fun. I'm sure it will happen again.

How do you guys have the power to wheelie out of a corner? My 12 will come up happily in 1st but I cant do much in any other gear, on a smooth flat road atleast. 2nd has no problem lofting wheelies over bumps in the road.

I bought a 2005 XB9SX for my wife, she had to have a Buell...
Right before she took the Rider's Edge course a total newbie, She said I've had that bike a month I want to go riding! I'd been teaching her what I could on my own. We get to the main road, She pops the clutch and pulls a perfect 90 degree wheelie across the highway, through the ditch up the grass on the other side, and sits it down about 12 feet from a group of trees, About 25 feet I was thinking WOW, and I was so Jealous! She was done riding for that day... I haven't been able to pull one like that with my XB12XT yet, but then that's probably my fault...
