Just noticed that my rear shock had a bit of fluid on the shaft and some fluid build up at the base of the shaft. To my knowledge this is one shaft where one does not want to have lube. I am thinking that my shock seals are leaking. What do I do?

I can buy a used one on e-bay ~$70.00 my year and model

Or an XB12 rear shock newer year and model ~$80.00

Or have mine rebuilt ~$?

What should I do? Are the newer model year and different bike models all using the same rear mono? Any input?

Take it off, send it to Traxxion Dynamics for a custom rebuild. I'm pretty sure they rebuild them and they are intimately familiar with the Buells.

traxxion is in my neck of the woods and every bike I have rode that they have done susp. on is TOP NOTCH! Spend the extra and have it sprung for your weight and the bike will handle like a dream.

Thanks, anyone know how about how much a rebuild costs, or how much you paid for yours? I am planning on talking to them on Mon, but am just anxious.

IIRC a rebuild is $150.

All XB9R and 12R models use the same shock should you go the ebay route : )

Firebolteric_ma has a nice custom one for sale that will bolt right on to your bike.

I have a shock from my 07 Firebolt with less than 500 miles. $90 shipped.
