Any of you guys know what might be causing my battery to drain rapidly? If I leave the bike off the batter tender for a couple of days, the battery will not have enough juice to start the bike.

I have a viper alarm and I heard this may be the issue, but I never arm the damn thing, so I have a hard time believing that an unarmed alarm will kill a battery so quickly. What do you guys think?

Is a short a possibility? I don't have any other electronic problems...

Are you sure your battery is still good, and not next to being worthless? Have you verified the voltages with a volt meter? You could bring the battery to autozone and have them perform a load test on it.

You could test the alarm system for load by leaving the fuse out for a week or so.

No I haven't yet. I only picked up the bike a few weeks ago and the previous owner informed me of the issue. He said it has always been like that since he bought it back in 2006 (it's an 05). I know I shouldn't just take his word for it, but I was curious if any other Buell owners had experienced something similar...

Etennuly - You mean just take the fuse out for a while and see if the battery continues to drain?

Sometimes my bike will sit a week or so without use, it always starts right up.

If you have a Battery Tender brand battery charger - here is a test you can try, when you connect the battery-if it will accept a full charge-and is so low it won't start the bike the red (charging) light should stay on for at least 8 hours, if it flips to green in less than an hour it would indicate the battery needs replacement.

As others have said, also try pulling the fuse to the Viper, see if that fixes the problem.
