So my swingarm has a little bit of road rash so I was thinking of updating to the 06+ arm cause it's supposed to be stronger and I like the looks better. My question is what oil lines do I use? I found in the archives that they need to be changed but it never said to what?!? I'm assuming just the 06+ lines but do they have to be modded at all? Has anyone just run some SS braided lines?

You will have to upgrade to the '06 lines. The location of the fittings is different on the new arm. If you interested, I have a spare '06 style swingarm I'd like to sell. It doesn't have a brace or fittings, but a brand new one won't either. Let me know if you're interested.

I think the question is:

Will the 06+ oil lines bolt up between the pre 06 engine and 06+ swing arm without modifications?

I would 'think' yes since the engine itself is the same until you hit the later year 08s with the newer new stuff but verification is a mighty wonderful thing : )

Yes, it's just the oil lines. The motor end is the same.

The motor end changed on the 2008's. That's when they went to the XBRR style oil pump and cam layout.

What about using stainless braided lines. I would have to find out what all the fittings are but it would be stronger than the stock lines.

Aren't they braided from the factory? At least the oil lines up in front of the engine are. I haven't yanked off a swingarm yet.

I looked around ebay to see some. They are but they have the flared hard line connections at the end. If I put some regular stainless lines I would get rid of those and also put on some dry release fittings so I could pull the swingarm off without any oil leaking from the lines in the future. I'm going to check with my local dealership on Monday to see if there is going to be a price difference.
