You guys thing it would just be a redundant waste or worth it. I was thinking the jet hot might help the headers hold up under the wrap which I'm doing either way. Discuss...

As you say...

jet hot might help the headers hold up under the wrap

No need to Jet Coat them For wrap purposes...

MY headers have been wrapped for Years on the 2004 xb12R headers are as good as the day it was wrapped...

You may run into problems wrapping bare steel headers etc...Like on Drag cars

I was at least going to coat them with the ht silicone coating beforehand. I think the jet hot would work just as well while adding some additional insulating.

Is Jet hot a ceramic coating?

If so, then you need not wrap them afterwards.

I hear (from knowledgable folks) that the silver ceramic coating (inside and out) does wonders for reducing the heat coming off the headers.

It's a little too much $$ for me, at least until I've completed all my other mod goals but I can't think of anything better.

Those who have wrapped their pipes rather than coat them seem pretty damn happy with the results and it's a lot less $$.

I cant remember where i read it, and i forget the reason why, but i think its bad news to do both. I'll try to find that info.

I was thinking the flat black coating on the outside, not the silver. That would be a waste to cover up right after. I think I'm just going to stick to the HT spray before I wrap and save the money on the jet hot. I'll just have the muffler coated instead.

The flat black is near a perfect radiator and will radiate heat like mad. I'll never use it again.

I've had my X1 header wrapped for a while, and now have it ceramic coated. Ceramic is exponentially more effective at keeping heat inside the pipe where it belongs.

That being said, I prefer the look of the wrap so for my S3 I'll be getting a black ceramic coating inside and out, followed by wrap, followed by black high temp silicone paint.

I've never been so good with the moderation thing

I had my 2 into 1 pipe on my Electra Glide Jet Hot coated. I didn't bother replacing the heat shields. I just don't need them anymore. Mine is flat black & runs very cool. What's amazing to me is how fast the pipe cools after killing the engine. Way faster than chrome pipes.

Ceramic Coat it, it will protect the headers and run cooler.

Preferred place to have the Jet Hot applied? Going to have a few months where I can send stuff out for plating/coating so I might as well think about the exhaust.

I live in the southern sticks so I sent mine to Jackson, MS.

This could be an option as well.

or just call 'em 800-432-3379

I will say their customer service wasn't top shelf, but the product was. I have 55K+ on my ThunderHeader, when it's clean it looks just like it did when I installed it.

I didn't realize they had joined with HPC on the corporate level.
