I took the XB to a rally this weekend, and I thought some of you might be interested in the half-assed way I fit a bunch of crap on it. Where there's a will, there's a way. . . Here's what it looks like all packed and ready to go. On top of the Buell side and top soft cases I have my tent, sleeping bag, air mattress, camp chair, and a couple of bags I won at the rally. Here's a photo from the back. Ignore the blue bungy. The two black Rok straps are doing all the work. Rok straps rule. The tricky part was figuring out how the hell to secure the straps. Zip ties to the rescue! Here's what I did in front: Here's the mounting point under the seat for the zip-ties. I tied them around some sort of lugs. I don't know what the lugs were for but they worked great. The back had me scratching my head, as the previous owner had removed the rear footpegs and anything else I might tie to. Luckily he had also replaced the rear turn signals with some that left a hole that I could run a zip tie through on each side. Here's a pic: That's about it, I suppose. Put about 400 miles to and from the rally with that stuff on there, no problems. Here's some more pics just for the hell of it:

Nice I've packed my S full a time or two. I love the looks I get from people trying to find the bike under all the stuff |

Did that twice going to Suches, GA The second time was easier cause I actually had saddlebags. The first time I had everything but the tent and sleeping bag in a back pack. |

Having a Ventura pack sure would make things easier. However, I prefer side cases, so I'm not carry all the weight up high. I'd like to get those mounts that Hepco & Becker make but I don't like any of their bags. Oh, I'd also like to point out that it would have been easier and probably safer to have run the front of my straps around the frame rails, but the strap was too short to do that. |

When I took my rear peg brackets off, I bolted on hardware store S hooks for bungee hook spots. |

Full camping gear in the Rev Pack Tour Pack on the back seat. Rain gear and electronics in the Wolfman Explorer tank bag. And I still had room on the Ventura Rack for the cooler with drinks and sandwiches! It was absolutely solid as a rock! |

Those Ventura packs sure do help. I guess I'm going to have to get one of those! |

Yeah they are helpful but you're packed solid without one which makes it all the more impressive |

I'll do a little write up on it in a separate thread so as not to completely thread-jack, but here is our XB and X1 ready to go for our camping trip this weekend: And a shot of them in the camp site:

Thanks, they are actually Ducati knock-offs. I usually have black body work on the bike, but the black is getting repainted right now, so the red is on! I've done a ton to that bike in the couple of months that I've owned it, and I've kept pics from the web until it's done...this is the first I've let anyone see it :-p |

Anyone ever think to pull a trailer behind a buell? Pic's?? I saw a cycle on the road today with a trailer and it made me think of it. |

Fishing poles? I don't fish. Couldn't figure out how to get my drumset or even the banjo on there. |

Mluds, I always thought that a single-wheel trailer would be sweet. Also, If it could lean with the bike.... |

U guys helped me out I was about to wonder how I was going to get my stuff on the bike. Good to see I was going to cobb it together like most of you did. Only problem I was going to have was keeping the taillight clear. Skully looks like u could pull the front up easier than normal with that set up, way out back like that. |
