I want to paint my primary chain case cover black.
What preparations must be made to successfully paint the cover?
What type of paint is available which will bond to aluminum?

Ive never had any problem painting aluminum. Prep it the same as steel. Are you thinking rattle can or base clear. My bigger concern would be the heat. I dont know what temp that cover gets to but I know its not something you want to touch on a hot day of riding.

I don't think you need an acid if it is already powder coated. For the best results it would probably be cheaper to just buy a black one, unless you are a pro painter. Then you would have a spare for your parts wall.
