This is my first post on these forums, so thanks to the moderators for approving me!

I want to do some simple mods to my Buell before the end of the season so I can try them out before I have to shelve it for the winter. I bought a 2004 Firebolt XB12r last year. It was completely stock, and I fell in love with it.

But, the need for speed is paramount to originality so...I want to put a race kit on it. I'm looking to change the air filter, ECM, and change to a drummer exhaust (I like the power curve of the regular one on my model over the SS model).

I'm having a hell of a time finding an ECM for it though. I was wondering if anyone knew a website that could hook me up? I would also appreciate any comments on that particular combo or any additional changes I should consider.

Thanks!
-Pat

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's the same brick wall I've hit with other sites. They have the race ECM for XB9's (or in the case of other sites have been on, the 05-07 XB12). I'm not sure why it's so hard to find it, but it's getting frustrating.

You need to call Al, its not listed because its not the same as buying a spark plug.

give American sport bike a call on the phone and he may be able to hook you up, or tell you where to call next. Also post a want add here on badweb, I am one of many success stories. It only took 6 days for me to get my perfect bike from another badwebber. (and that's not to find that 6 days and I'm riding it down town) don't give up hope.

The problem is simple: they don't make 'em for '03s and '04s anymore, and once they're on, they don't usually come off. Al at American Sport Bike helped me find a used one. Another possibility is to burn an '04 race map onto a stock ECM. It's said that works just fine.

If you're new to Buell-dom, you really ought to get to know Al.

He retired as an engineer to run American Sport Bike. He has tested nearly every way possible to program the beasts. Well worth the conversation or shoot him an email through the American Sport Bike contact info.

Good guy to know.

I agree, I have only ordered a few things so far but he is great to do business with. (my bike came with alot of his stuff already on it otherwise I would have more experience to speak on)
