I just noticed a speed-dependent clacking sound coming from the front wheel when the brake is applied. The sound slows and stops as I roll to a stop. It sounds like something hitting as it goes through the caliper but the rotor looks good and I don't see anything out of the ordinary. It doesn't pulse or seem to affect braking and I don't hear anything or detect anything amiss when I roll forward on the garage floor with the brake lightly applied.

What am I likely looking at? Is this a dangerous condition? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you check the rotor bolts? Make sure to check each individual hole in the rotor. Make sure nothing got stuck in one (not sure what would, though).

My XB9 was doing that after the ride On Monday, WOW I had the same thing, I could not finger it out, my wife bouncing on the front end and me with stethescope I lossened and tightened caliper and roter bolts and the pinch bolts on the triple clamps,bounced and bounced I think I have found that the roter bolts need to be to a corect torqe, you know the range for the roter and caliper, I just need to make it to the shop to look at a manual or I can just wait for the one I got on ebay

It's the rotor floating on the bushings. My 04 12r has been doing it since I got it. No pulsing and it stops fine so I'll leave it alone for now. Every time you replace the rotor you MUST replace the bushings as per service manual.

There are spacers in the front bolts that keep the rotor centered. Over time, these wear out. You can order or just get the new replacement parts from the dealer. These springs as they call them position the rotor. You can easily replace with hand tools. Once done you will have no more excessive noise.

25 to 27 ft lb roter
35 to 37 ft lb caliper
this should stop the click
