So, which would be better, the Corbin, or the Select? Is there another brand/style out there?

Have both Corbin and select. Can ride on the Corbin for hours but the select is not as comfortable. I am 6'1 with a 36" inseam at 188 lbs.

Both are good.

Corbin takes a thousand or so miles to really break in.
I've heard bad things about Corbin service in the last couple of years though. So much that I believe Al at American Sport Bike doesn't even deal with them any more.

I'd try to get one off a fellow BadWeBer if I go that route.

I love my Select seat. It is firm without being hard and comfortable without being squishy.

Though lately I've read disturbing threads about them having some manufacturing glitches, the vinyl rising off the seat. I believe this problem has been addressed and is being worked on. It might even be remedied by now.

I was lucky to get one of the first ones and it's still in excellent condition.

So there you have it. The good and the bad.

I have the select and love it. It has a valley in the passenger location that is less than ideal in rain condition. I always run the Buell tail bag so it does not really effect me. My profile pic has the select seat+tail bag combo. Ive traveled as much as 690 miles in a day on the select.

If you are going on a long trip, the Corbin is well worth the $$. I've done 2 trips that were over 2k in 4 days, my Corbin held up nicely.

For long distances, Corbin wins hands down. The only thing I don't like about my Corbin is that the outside edges of the seat tend to rub against the inside of my thighs when making standing stops. If I get stuck in stop-and-go and have to do a lot of standing stops in a row, it can start to chafe a little.

I installed the select seat about two ago and absolutely love it. I did take it back and had the dealer order me another one, since the material was raise off of the seat. Hopefully the new one is perfect. I've been riding with the stock cg seat again and never realized how uncomfortable it was until now.

The material on my select raises off the seat on hot days. Doesnt really bother me because most people just think its supposed to look like that and it goes back down when I sit on it anyway. However it is worth mentioning.

My Corbin is very comfortable. I haven't used the select seat.

one option would be to have the seat reworked by someone locally. i had mine cut down to fit the way i like to ride and have had a good experience. this is the second seat i have done this to, first was for my fxd. cost is similar to corbin or aftermarket seats. also had a silicone type insert from buttbuffers.com. not everyones cup of tea but thought i would add my two cents.
