Going to be putting the new Slipper on the XB racebike - since this is now a part available to riders WITHOUT a racing license, would there be any interest in a photo-story? Here? Racing section? | ||

If you are braking hard and downshifting, it can be adjusted to PREVENT the rear wheel from skidding/hopping when it gets really light (when all the weight is transferring to the front, lifting the rear). The clutch actually slips to prevent this from happening and can be adjusted to suit rider preferences. Kinda cool for racing and track days. Not all that necessary for normal street riding. | ||

Yeah... I've thrown the bike away once when trying to out-brake in traffic. Didn't realize how light I had the rear and I dropped the clutch and it just hopped out from under me. Been putting it off way too long. Wednesday should be the day. Gotta remember to bring the camera to Antelope Valley where we're doing the work in their shop. They DO have a few of their mechanics who have already taken an active interest in all things Buell and since this is now "legal" for sale to street riders, they're really interested in seeing one go together and onto the bike. Yeah. Prolly post it up in the racing section. Started soaking the plates tonight so they're conditioned for a week. Work is pretty simple... but I still am waiting for the assembly tool. Should be good to go in a week. | ||

Good question about the Tuber. Assuming common shaft with all Sportster derivatives, it SHOULD fit. Heck, I'll talk to the Antelope Valley mechanics and see if we might open up a couple others while we're at it! Good questions. (and I'm too lazy to crack my sidecase off my S3 to see if it'd fit) Worth checking for sure. | ||

Update: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/158 664/488770.html And we didn't have the chance to try it on my S3 or John's X1 (another mechanic at Antelope Valley) I'd think if you can find out which clutch basket parts are common for which bikes, you should know. I have my S3 and XB parts books in the shop and think you might be able to borrow a parts book from the parts dude to see if it truly COULD be used in a tuber or Sporty. I think it'd be a no-brainer but I'd HATE to recommend it and then find that the splines don't match. |
