I've put off rebuilding my forks for too long and now the bike is starting to ride kind of funny. I ride my XB way too much to be having handling problems so the forks are coming off and I need to take them some where to be serviced. Anyone in So Cal have a recommendation? Thanks! | ||

IF you actually want to have them rebuilt and TUNED - you can take or send them to Racetech directly. They can re-spring and re-valve them while they're open. Otherwise there is a really good independent wrench (who does Glendale's race tuning) - I'll PM you his info. | ||

I am a big advocate of upgrading one's suspension whilst it is being serviced. This is especially true if one is above average weight, (160 lb.s) or if one rides particularly fast on the street. Sort of a must if one does a lot of track days or races. The standard suspension is good, but must be a compromise for comfort and a range of body weights. | ||

Well I am on the bigger and heavier side and I do strictly freeway riding so some suspension tweeks may be in order. | ||

I have been messing with my suspension settings from the start. '07 xb9r 28,230 miles. On the asphalt, mountain roads, perfect ride, but when I get on that super slab, cement, for the life of me, I cannot get it to stop bouncing. I have done tons of tweaking, settings from the OEM manual and Higbee’s settings but to no avail. I have been chucking it up to the GREAT JOB Caltrans does on the highways. I love the Buell to much to stop riding  so I just live with it....or should I drop large amounts of cash to get a smooth ride on concert as well as asphalt? Not trying to highjack your thread Punkrider, you might be experiencing somewhat of the same. | ||

Something to consider is just boxing them up and shipping them to Traxxion. I've done this 4 times now - for the SV and for the XB. If you're just talking a simple rebuild then take them local but IF you're thinking of setting them up with proper springs and valves then it MIGHT make sense to send them to Traxxion (or Racetech) It's just that Traxxion has been so knowledgeable about Buell suspensions. (OK, I've gone far enough promoting a non-sponsor). You CAN have the dealer do a re-springing for you - but get your own springs, DO NOT expect the Dealer to make those decisions for you. You can get a set of springs from the usual sources matched to your all-up weight. (Message edited by slaughter on August 21, 2009) |
