So I finally got my drummer installed(after a month of waiting) I got mine through American Sport Bike and they've been great. Installation was not easy, but not impossible. I wasn't keen on loosening the rear axle and tensioner but once I got the dang buggers to move it wasn't too bad. Just wish KDFab would have thread chased the fairing brackets before they sent it out. That was the only real sucky part since they painted the whole thing with that thick black paint. Added about 45 mins to the install, mostly to problem solve. The pipe was a lot louder than expected. Like almost obnoxious loud but bearable. It wasn't too bad but I rode around to test it out and indeed, the helmet really seemed to amplify the sound when I closed the visor. Luckily, I wear earplugs anyway. The best part is when I first started it up and put it in gear to get out of the garage, I eased off the clutch as usual and nearly fell off the back! I'd say the k&n opened up the rpm from 4500 to 6k rpm and the pipe opened up the engine to redline without resistance. Can't imagine a breather mod would add much more. It really felt great on the freeway, finally sounding like a sportbike. A little popping on decel was heard, but nothing too bad, nothing that affected performance. I also installed an ilmberger long bellypan And it looks great, a little thin, but nicely formed. Really cleaned up the bike's lowers! Pictures to follow. Maybe video... Derek |

what did you have to loosen the axle and tensioner for? |

I think some people need to remove the rear tensioner to access the rear muffler clamps. If you've got a 1/4 socket set and a swivel adapter, you can usually get around the tensioner while it's still installed. |

I have had my "Drummer Ss" for some time now and really like it. Bike runs better, sounds better, weights less. The louder pipes have saved me a couple of times from sleepy morning commuters. So it is louder, but I am told not obnoxious, but you are right, you have to wear ear plugs! |

I love my Drummer also. My install only took about 10 minutes though. Best investment ever. I just sent a Drummer from a XB9 to have him convert it to a 12, its an awesome product. Thanks Kevin. |

I had to loosen the axle and remove the tensioner because the clamp had too much bolt through it so I had to use a deep socket. So deep socket plus swivel is too much tool not enough room. I got the forward most clamp no prob but the rear one was right behind the tensioner wheel. Yeah, the project took me about 1hr 45 minutes. probably because I "had" to go get a deep socket set. schucks. Plus I kinda learned as I went since I am mechanically a noob. Derek |

If you can find them, I think Sears has them, get a wobble extension. The give you about five degrees of play and are much more controllable than a wobble. They are a God send for removing the rear spark plug. They actually have two modes. Socket pushed on part way = wobble Socket pushed on fully = regular non wobbling extension. |

Well done Derek! The sound will grow on you, maybe not your neighbors so much. +1 what Eicas said, definitely will run better and makes it sound the way that motor was made to sound! |

The reverberations in my helmet are pretty obnoxious. The bike sounds awesome with the visor up, but most of the time I have to keep it down. There has to be a scientific way to dissipate or deaden the sound somehow. thinking... |

I dont find mine obnoxious... If anything it could be louder at idle (no it helps me to keep the police happy). My dads Harley is one of the quieter piped harleys I have heard, it has Rhineharts, and its a good bit louder then mine, maybe not at WOT... The Drummer is nothing like an open pipe Harley. |

Nice. Interesting, that exhaust outlet is a thicker walled aluminum than the one on my wifes's. Derek where'd you get that belly pan? |

I haven't seen anybody else's drummer so I can't compare... Anyway I got the bellypan from Sierra motorcycle supply. Pretty nice people out in Las Vegas. I won't lie it ain't cheap... Cost me more than the drummer, lol. Google them they got a site and lots of hard to find accessories. |
