I took my 2008 XB12R in to have some warranty work done. The bike had a bad stumble between 4100-4500 RPM’s. It also, sometimes, had a cough at 2100. The rear head gasket was leaking too. Uke’s HD/Buell in Kenosha, Wi did the following: Replaced the front seat (staples were pulling out) Performed a recall to reroute the clutch cable Replaced the rear head gasket Replaced rear spark plug wire Replaced a cracked fuel line The stumble is gone and the bike runs smoother. It also has more low end grunt. I always wondered why people called these things wheelie machines. Mine has always been hard to get up, even in first. Now with just a twist of the throttle, I’m looking at the sky. Now I’ll talk about the fan. It would never come on, when riding, except while stuck in gridlock traffic on a very hot day. When I shut the bike off, the fan would stay on for 5-10 minutes. Longer than other Buells I rode with. The bike was almost unbearable to ride, because of the amount of heat. I’ve actually had burns on my legs from it. After the new reflash, the fan operation is completely different. It now stays on while riding, except below 11mph. Every time I come to a stop, it shuts off at 11mph. It also doesn’t run after I shut the bike down. The bike seems to run cooler, but I have only ridden it twice. Both times it was in the low 70’s. I am a little concerned about it not coming on after shut down, but maybe it is running cooler. The quietness is strange. I’m going to romp on it this afternoon and see how it performs. | ||

Interesting ... if there is no negative impact to the longevity of the engine I would love to have that new fan strategy on my 06 XB! | ||

Anonymous, Thanks for the information. It definitely runs cooler. I rode it pretty hard on my way home from work. When I shut the bike off, the fan did come on, but only on the slow speed. It used to roar for a long time. It only stayed on for about a minute. The radiant heat was way down. I am more than happy! If you haven't done the latest reflash, I would recommend it.
