Who cares...I think its agreed that the rear brake isn't the best. That being said as long as this mod doesn't make it worse then it's ok. Plus everyone seems to agree that it looks good so what's the problem? |

I agree no problems just good ol' fun, guys being guys on a forum. 
but as for being a PRO rider or drummer I don't think that is the case. maybe an experienced rider or drummer yes. nuance of force such a crescendo or accents along with subtle technique such as paraddidles of drags are something that can be learned if practiced just like proper rear braking and modulation. the key here is CAN and PRACTICE. I bet you are right about the majority of riders don't use it. I think that they are misinformed, front brake only can be a dangerous thing, (slow turn pull down or debris skidding) but so can the rear brake when used alone, (tail dancing or loss of gyro) the key is to use them in concert with each other. use the rear brake to tranfer more weight to the front and to sabilize your bike, the front for stopping power or tightening your line mid corner.
and your statements on braking are correct no argument there. the front does most of the work stopping the bike but the stand up from the rear brake and the stability are not a part of the statistics.

that and I am talking about everyday riding not threshold braking. getting to that thin edge before lockup and riding it till the end is an advanced technique, but again there is no reason not to practice it too in a safe environment. |

I think we all agree more or less, this mod is good for multiple reasons, and using your rear brake is good as long as you know the front brake is the one that really matters.
If you feel that you're good enough of a rider to "need" a new, better rear caliper because you can't modulate the stock one properly, I call BS lol... but I am alone apparently, so ignore me and move on

Wave - your calculation of 3.5% only reflects the percent change in braking distance. It is NOT an accurate measurement of relative braking power.
And, the 1995 GSF600 in the article you cited uses a fixed-mount, dual piston rear brake caliper. Food for thought!

Coops, agreed I was a little sloppy about the 3.5% calculation, calling it "added braking power", which is wrong... it's only the braking distance that using the rear caliper helped decrease, but it's the number that actually matters, not how much force and modulation your caliper can provide...
Agreed though, it doesn't really matter anymore... I was just trying to kill time at work |

I plan on doing that for looks alone so screw the naysayers brother! It looks great! Well I would do the line a little different but otherwise great! |

I'm definitely getting a shorter line so I can route it in the stock location. Not crazy about how the line looks now, but it was just too long to go anywhere else. |
