I just received my shop manual for the 09 xb12 and there doesn’t seem to be any way of adjusting the base timing. I hope I am not the only one who thinks this is an oversight on these engines. Has anyone come up with a method to verify the base timing is correct or do we just have to trust that it is? I have read multiple post of Buell owners with the 07 and older bikes being able to check the timing and actually find that it is off. I’m not one that needs to experiment until engine failure, I just like to verify that all is the way it should be. | ||

One of the benefits of the 08+ bikes is that you don't need to check the timing. Next you are going to want to figure out how to rejet the carb or top off your blinker fluid.

Hey Froggy, ecm is great yes and I know all that lol. However, no ecm in the world is going to correctly calculate the spark advance when the initial timing is off. And it looks like I can’t check it unless I start taking parts off; and I don’t want to do that until it’s out of warranty. The only real problem I have with the bike is it sucks the gas like she thinks I’m a sugar daddy. Other than that she runs like a champ.  |
