That number given (M1907.1Ak) is for the Ulysses Rider Comfort Kit, not the one that the 2010 Firebolt comes with. I have been calling my dealer with no luck looking for the number of the 2010 Firebolt RSS. | ||

Finally and engineered solution. EDIT: I am dying to ask. BEFORE you wrote that about the RSS have you even SEEN the new RIDER COMFORT KIT? A simple "yes" or "no" . . . just curious. It's not the same as the add on one. The Buell one has a shroud that goes with it to make sure you're actually benefiting the engine, not just adding something mirroring the left side. | ||

Mounting the "scoop only" is no smarter than the RSS was. I think when you see the entire kit you'll understand why. It removes about everything under the seat . . . battery, under seat pan, etc, cuts the transmission vent hose and then installs sealing tape and new ducting behind the airbox and seals around the shock. It **LOOKS** (mines not in yet) like all the air off the back of the motor is ducted away from the under seat area and then the scoop moves it away from the bike. I'll be doing a rather long shake down run and after two 285-400 mile rides without my Aero-Britches I've got good basis for comparison. Someone asked for a diagram of the "duck penetration" . . . I probably shouldn't share confidential engineering drawings but I'll try to get it and post it in a few minutes. P.S. ALL PART NUMBERS ARE ON THE BUELL WEBSITE. Good one Court. Here are some pics of the arrangement on a 2010 Uly (cross-posted from BB&D) that Jammin_joules shot at the dealer show last weekend. Close-up of right side scoop:  Looking into the new right side scoop (note the new front O2 sensor):  Under seat area (airbox to the left, ECM to the right). The fan is below this, which is open in 2006-2009 Ulys. Note no deflectors on the sides of the seat; no need for them now as no air is allowed to exit under the seat. BTW Court- I'm hoping this piece just snaps into place and all that stuff to the right (ECM, battery, etc.) doesn't really have to be removed:  Here's a photo of the left side scoop, which is actually the same as the one on the 2009's, but different than the one on earlier Ulys. Interesting...it looks more like an aftermarket scoop....than the aftermarket scoops! At least they've finally done the rear cylinder a big favor. Mike | ||

I'm just not into added complexity. One of the main reasons I bought what I bought was the simplicity of the bike. I wasn't a real fan of the ECM until I rode through the winter. Nothing beats EFI. I already hated points. I love my bike. | ||

Nothing beats EFI... that benefits from excellent mapping and adequate engine and ambient feedback. Two O2 sensors is a huge leap ahead. I just wish they'd armor the wire of the front one. It seems so fragile and at risk. (Message edited by blake on August 01, 2009) | ||

I don't think it would be anywhere near as effective it it did just snap in place. | ||

Yep, confirmed in a thread in BB&D pretty much everything under the seat has to be detached and moved out of the way for installation of the fan shroud. Court posted this photo evidently from the installation instructions:  |
