Hey, Been reading these boards for quite some time now and I'm about to take the plunge and get a Buell. I've narrowed it down to 2 bikes, both CityX's, and I was wondering what the thoughts were on which would be a better buy.

Option 1 - 2005 CityX, 3300 miles, $4000. For sale privately by a guy who works at a HD/Buell dealer. Says the bike runs great, has paperwork for all the maintenance & stuff, and is willing to have it checked out by a different dealer.

Option 2 - 2007 CityX, 4715 miles, $5995. For sale by a HD dealer, just had it checked out, no problems.

Both bikes seem/look good, haven't gotten the chance to test ride either yet (hopefully get that done this weekend/early next week). I'll be financing either way (bank in the case of the 05, thru the dealer for the 07). Dealer says that we could work in a jacket and helmet for the 07 probably, and they'd take care of the title stuff as well, which seems like a big perk, since I live in OH and will be buying the bike in FL.

Right now I'm leaning more towards the 05 based largely on the $$ difference, both in the purchas and because insurance is about $240 cheaper per year for the 05. Is there anything that would be a deal breaker for either of these bikes? Was there any major change from the 05 to 07 model years? Which would be the smarter buy? Note that I plan on using the bike as a commuter & day rider on back roads w. my cousin and a friend.

Go with the '05. Less miles and leaves you money for some goodies.

05 has the sexier swingarm : )

Edit: The only difference between the 05 and 07 besides the swingarm is the 05 gets its air from a passage through the frame.

The 07 gets its air from the top of the airbox above gas filler. The 07 holds a whopping .12 gallons of gas more than the 05. (05- 3.7gal vs 07- 3.82gal)

Other changes are minimal. Upgraded oil pump gear on the 07 but I can't think of any XBs old or new that have had that part fail. It was more of a problem on the Tubers from what I can recall.

That's all I can think of. The 05 seems like a great deal.

OK cool; I didn't remember seeing anything different between the 05's and the 07's, but I wanted to make certain. Keep the opinions coming!

2005 was last year for straight tranny gears.
$4k for the '05 gets my vote, that is a great deal.

I say get the 07.

The new swing arm, and transmission are worth it. I bet you can get a deal from the dealer...

'05. The price alone with minimal mileage would make me choose that one. As someone said before, minimal changes and more money left for gear and goodies.
