How difficult is the break in service to do? I have all of the needed tools.....

I just don't want to spend 200+ at a dealer.

Is there something I should watch out for?

Any opinions appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick

So it looks like I need the following (according to the service manual):
- HD Multi-Grade SAE 10W40
- Oil Filter (63806-00Y)
- Trans Fluid (99851-05)
- Clutch Gasket (?)
- Oil Filter Gasket (?)
- Drain Plug O-Ring (?)
- Tans Plug O-Ring (?)

Can anybody help me fill in the ?'s

Where do you guys purchase the maintenance items?

Thanks,
Nick

Nickh,

Shouldnt have to worry about any of the gaskets or o-rings. They are usually in good shape after only 1000 miles. Gets the fluids and your filter and just do a basic drain, change, fill, check.

Side note, now is a good time to switch to synthetic if you would want to. Everyone will give you mixed opinions and whether or not to use synthetic and also mixed opinions on brands. I use AMS. You can use the same sythetic oil in the motor as in the trans. Feel free to email/private message me with any questions. I like helping others who are learning.

Sorry about missing your post......I just finished up the service after work today and everything went very smooth. The service manual is great to have, it already paid for itself.
