Anyone try the driven D3 grips? Motomummy.com has 'em, but they are $50. I've never had to buy grips for a sportbike and I'm in the dark here- any thoughts or opinions on grips? | ||

Seems pricey, when you can get colored grips for $7. I see they have anodized aluminum though. Guess it's whatever floats your boat, and what you're willing to pay for! ~SM | ||

The Buell Traction grips are cheap and really comfy. They fit your hand really well. Right now I have DeathGrips, they're not too bad either. They don't have the nice shape of the Tractions but they're gel, and they have skulls on 'em.  | ||

I just bought the thick gel grips from American Sport Bike. Very similar shape to the Buell Traction grips, but softer and I find them more comfortable. | ||

Been using $10 pro grips as they are red and look good but wear out fast... Running tractions now and I am happy with them (second time using them)... Hard rubber, would last the life of the bike probably... Ergo's are good but the harder rubber doesnt grip the throttle hand as well so I find myself having to squeeze JUST a tad bit harder to keep it rotated. Thanks! Now when I order grips are they self adheisive or how do they stay on? Do I order adhiesive to keep 'em on? Sorry if this is just a stupid question- | ||

A couple of schools of thought here, personally, to prevent any play/slipping that happens when I install grips I'll usually scuff the covered portion of the bars with about 400 sandpaper after old grips are removed. A few wraps of black electrical tape to build up the bars a bit. When installing I'll use plenty of 3M contact adhesive (extra hold hairspray has been known to work also) to kind of lube up the bars and use a sort of twisting or screwing motion (he he screwing motion) to get the grips on. after everything dries they shouldn't budge. I live in vegas and the bike has been known to sit in the summer heat without so much as a budge. I may have to cut 'em off when my Rizoma's come in however. | ||

Good thing about a buell grip like traction is that it already has the throttle mount so its as easy as sliding it on and connecting the throttle cables. I recommend hairspray for the left grip. Lubricates it to get it on easier then anything else and it grips GREAT but can be removed (I cut off) easier then grip glue, which I usually end up (first time taking a grip off a new bike) having to cut off piece by piece and then sand. | ||

Jake... They wont. You could try a solvent, I personally give it one tear (clean to the bar, will put a scratch into it but who cares) down the entire length and peel off what I can... Then cut chunks off until its fairly thin, then scrape with the knife (in a fast motion, almost like sanding) and finally use a low grit (coarse, like 60 grit) sand paper to get it all off... And hairspray to put it on... | ||

i use superglue to hold the left hand grip on. when u want to remove just take a razor and cut it off. | ||

I use hairspray on pedal bike grips but I like to use grip glue on M/C grips,it only costs a couple bucks and I get peace of mind knowing they are glued on. | ||

Has anybody put Traction Grips on a Uly? The web site says it can't be done. But don't they have the same set up as the Lightning? | ||

The traction grips don't have a hole on the end, so you would either lose your handguards or have to modify the grips. | ||

Froggy Thank you. I think I am going to order those right now then. I don't have my hand guards on at the moment anyways and if and when I want to put them back on. They will go under the knife.  | ||

use a long thin screwdriver(to loosen the glue) & an air hose to remove your grips !!! | ||

The traction grips do have a perforation on the end to guide you in cutting the hole out for bar end mirrors or weights, not sure if that would allow you to use the hand guards... And if you can get the stock OEM grip off with a screwdriver and air without destroying the grip, your a GOD. Those things are literally glued on, I have taken them off of two buell grips and cant think of any way to do it besides cut/chisel/scrape/sand. | ||

Good deal. I was at the dealership the other day and a bike had them on it. They are so much better than the OEM ones. Has anyone tried using a heat gun to remove the grips? | ||

welll ..... i must be GOD then . never had a problem removing any handlebar grip (bicycle/M/C) with a long sdrewdriver and a compressed air hose nozzle johnson. | ||
