Hi guys, i am new to the forum so i will introduce myself, i am from South Africa and just purchased a 2005 xb12s. I have a very urgent question, a buddy of mine has a 2004 xb12s with a race ecm and had a race pipe but unfortunately destroyed the pipe in a crash, now he has organized another race pipe, so i offered him my ps3 and accessories for the race pipe and race ecm. Will this work on my buell, are the race ecm's different for each year model? Thanks. | ||

those parts will work just fine on your '04. That's a damn good trade. You should be playing a 360 anyway  | ||

Thanks for the info, however i have an 05 model and the parts are off an '04, so i do suppose it does not make a difference, will the bike need a tune up or are the parts just simply plug and play? | ||

The race ecm works well when paired with the race muffler and a free flowing air filter such as K&N. A good dyno tune job couldn't hurt anything but it will run fine without any tuning. I would suggest using EcmSpy to reset the AFV and TPS when you install the ecm and muffler, then ride in closed loop or "learning mode" for a while to let the ecm figure things out. (3-4k rpm, steady highway speed with little to no load on the engine) | ||

No need to get the race ECM when you can just reflash your stock one with the race fuel and timing maps. My 2 cents. | ||

As PKforbes87 said, you definitely need to reset your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) when you install the Race ECM onto a 2005 XB. You can ride it to the dealer, swap ECMs in the parking lot, and then have them reset the TPS for you. Or, you could use one of the various software programs out there to do it yourself. If you're not familiar with ECMSpy, it may be worth the extra $$ to just have a dealer do the TPS reset. | ||

 I had a new kit in '05, TPS reset was definitely a part of the installation. The complete kit consisted of; the K&N air filter, the muffler, the ECM, and instructions to get the TPS reset. |
