took my "new-to-me" buell out for a shake down run....and when I pulled onto my driveway, and put the kickstand (jiffy stand) down....I heard metal hit the ground. I looked down and discovered the kick-stand, spring and other piece of metal where just hanging there. the small cylinder piece that slides through the kickstand and bolts to the frame tab is gone.

anybody have an online source for small parts like this? similar to babbits.com or bikebandit.com ?

I looked through older post like this, and most people suggested Buell Parts, but they don't offer online access to parts diagrams and don't let you order small bolts.

I am in New Orleans and the closest buell dealership is in hammond or baton rouge, about an hour away

A site sponsor at http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/171 43/17143.html?1247698648

would probably help and give a discount.

Daniel:

Any photos or part numbers for what you are needing?

Should be about zero and a half problem to get.

Happened to me as well. Showed up at work and went to put the kickstand down, only there wasn't one there to put down. Replaced under warranty, haven't had a problem since.

When I got to work I just left it in first gear and leaned it up against the building. I called my dealer and they told me to bring her down as they would pull a kickstand off a bike on the floor. I went to the dealer and they had a bay open waiting for me. I pulled right in to the garage and 15 minutes later I was on my way.

dealer....warranty....what are these odds words you use? I bought my Buell from a recovering crackhead cook at a local bar/grill, rebuilt the bike in the office for the kitchen of the bar/grill, closest dealer is over an hour away, and they are both pretty useless and pester me to "CHOP" it. no plans to chop it.

I ordered a parts manual,w/cd waiting on it, until then I may just go to HomeDepot and get a stainless sleeve, bolt and nut to get the jiffy stand back on.

I scanned this from my service manual (which does NOT have parts numbers listed...)
I have all of the parts but:
#3 "sidestand pivot bolt"
anybody have a parts manual and can give me the part number for that?

This is the part number from the 2003 Firebolt parts and assembly manual: L0174.02A8 PIVOT BOLT, sidestand.
I do not know if the 2004 is the same, I know the later models were different because they do not have the side stand safety switch.
I just bought one of those pivot bolts, with California sales tax it was about $8.00.

the closest harley dealer, wonderful people that they are, put me on hold for 20mins, at first told me the part number I gave them was wrong L0174.02A8 , I asked him to read it back to me, to make sure he heard and entered the part number correctly. He wouldn't do that, instead he said he could find in the parts book.."hold on for a second, I don't think we have a parts book for the XB, I am going to call another dealer", now this IS a Buell dealer. After asking several times to just read me the part number back to make sure he had it correctly, he reads it back and had the wrong part number. He looks up the correct part number and says "I don't have it, will have to order it $7.50...will get here next week". I ask if he can ship it directly to my house, he says it'll cost my $7.00 and will take an additional week.
I explain to him that if he had it in stock, I would have driven an hour to get it, but since I have to order it, I was going to order it from someone online that could get it to me alot quicker then two weeks and cheaper than $7.00 shipping.
I am glad most of you people on here live near decent dealerships and don't have to fend for yourselves. It really sucks to have zero dealer support.

One of the board sponsoring dealers can have it ordered and shipped to your before your dealer will get it. Precision Harley is good, so is Liberty.

I posted part number that RSH provided from his 2003 parts manual on the Liberty NJ Buell parts request board. got a quick replay and a quote from Chris"OdinBueller" at Liberty Buell NJ, great guys, lots of info and willing to work for it.
He explained to me that the part number I had was obsolete, that Buell has changed the setup from a pivot bolt that screws into the sidestand to a pivot pin that slides through and is retained by an e-clip.
The new set up is about $60.00 which isn't too bad, but it will take some time to get, not as long as Baton Rouge Buell was going to take (and Baton Rouge Buell was content ordering me the wrong part because they did know any better).
I am very impatient. I took some measurements and headed off to my local LOWE's Hardware store and picked up a 3/8x1/2x1" steel spacer ($1.15) and a 5/16-18x1-1/2" Hex cap stainless steel screw ($2.15). returned home, and slid the spacer through the sidestand and sidestand frame mount, the screwed in my screw (using red loc-tite). The hard part was getting the spring on. I had to remove the screw and spacer. First you attach the spring then using the mount as some help with your leverage, line the holes up and insert the spacer. I had to work at it to line up the screw and get the threads started, once it was in and tightened down, I checked the sidestand and everything seems to be working just fine.
The Bike seems solid while leaning on the sidestand, and it stays in the up position while riding.
so for $3.30 plus tax the buell was back to standing up for itself...well leaning for itself.
I will order the right stuff from Liberty Buell, but I just wanted to ride NOW...
