Just bought a XB9SX city 2006. After the ride home I noticed some oil running down the clutch cable. Came out at the union type fitting area and ran down. Any idea what caused this? Love the little bike. It is an 06 city in blue. It has about 1,300 miles on it. Like new condition and I got it for $4,500.00. That isn't too bad a price is it?

Oil is working it's way up the cable through the primary cover. Seen it a million times. I'd say you got a good deal on it. Keep an eye on the cable. It usually doesn't get worse and may require a wipe off here and there. If it get's too bad, just replace the cable. It's about a 15 minute job and draining the primary is NOT needed. Enjoy the bike.

The same happened to me on my XB. I took some self bonding electrical tape...wrapped it, then put some heat shrink tubing over it and put the heat to it. No more leak. Seems to be a common leak for some reason.

Got ya on that. Good rubber electrical tape should really do a seal on it if I clean it up first. Thanks guys. The hero blue has always been a favorite of mine. I don't think there is any have to get fixed items on the 06 SX but if any one knows of any let me know. Nice little bike. I really love it. I had an X1 a while back and I love this one.
Thought about one of the 1125 models but didn't want to pick up payments.

Had this happen to me too. Mine issue was a kinked vent line. If the vent tube for the transmission gets kinked, the only place for pressure to vent is out the clutch cable. Check the line to make sure it has free flow.

The line starts on top of the trans, between the rear cylinder and the starter motor. Connects to the bottom of the air box.

Got ya. That might have been the case. We were starting it up a few times with the air cleaner assembly loose to battle a fuel fouled plug. We most likely had the vent kinked under the pan during that time and caused the situation. I will look it over though. Thanks much I hope to get out for a little cruse today.

Or it may be oil coming out of the cable from lubing it.
