Thank God for strong beads... I took a leisurely ride out to my friends house last night and on the way back it seemed to be handling a little funny. I guess it must have been a slow leak but I feel lucky none the less... Completely flat this morning.

Crap. Now I need a set of tires I hadn't planned to buy for another month.

Depends on where the leak is. ITs not unsafe to plugpatch a mtorcycle tire at all as long as the puncture ie in the treadblock. To be safe I wouldn't go any closer then 1 inch to the outside of the treadblock.

What do you mean by "treadblock"? It looks as if the hole is right in the center. I don't trust plugs though... If I fix it I'll have it patched, but I may as well go for Diablo's if I do that. I wonder how much Mayer HD would charge to patch it if I removed the wheel myself?

a "patchplug" is a patch with a plug attached to it and is the most recommended repair from the tire manufacturers. It is installed from the inside, the plug is pulled through from the inside to seal up the the seprate layers of the belt and tread. Permnently attached to the plug is a patch that adheres to the inside of the tire to use the airpressure to seal the tires as well. It is double protection. This isn't your typical stringplug the old skool garages used to fix your mom's car tire with. These were designed by the tire manufacturers with the intent of a permanent repair. In the pic below the section between the bluelines is the section of the treadblock that would be safe to patchplug.

Gotcha...

I need to stop by the Honda shop tomorrow and I'll ask them what they charge. I'll call Mayer HD too. I need to stop by the Honda shop anyway to get some fork oil for a fork rebuild I'm in the middle of doing.

If you take the wheel in the honda shop will probably be the least expensive. I know the HD/BMC shops here want 1 hour labor for any tire work off the bike.
