Hi guys
I have a question about HP. When I look here ( http://www.buell.com/en_us/bikes/street/XB9SX/ ) the XB9SX has 92 HP's but 84HP's are written in my vehicle passport.

Is it wrong or not? Or is there any country limitation or something like that (my bike was shipped from Japan)? My XB9sx was made in oct 2004 year.
"12" are pointed in VIN code at the Engine type position. It means the bike was made for World and has 984cc according to Service Manual.

Depends on where the HP is being measured. My XB-12 is advertised at 101HP. That measurement is made at the crankshaft. If dyno'd, the bike will show something in the 83-85HP range at the back wheel. Rule of thumb says power losses through the drivetrain are in the 15% range.

With just a few mods, my "9" is dynoed with 107.7 at the tire!

That's 132hp, advertised.

Most every dyno in town-across the US will also give you a different number.

I'd worry more if it's running correctly, not how much HP it's "supposed" to have. As with the dyno...every engine is just a little different.

Not sure what you mean about dyno jet kit?

It was put on the dyno in Colorado when I had work done by NHRS and read 106.8 rear tire hp. Then put on the dyno in MN and read 107.7 rear tire hp with 132 crank hp and 90 feet of tq.

Were you looking for the mods? Or a copy of the dyno printout? I can post both if you want em.

Sorry, just not sure what you were asking by "dyno jet".

How does dyno stand for? dynamometer? If yes… I have said rubbish above : )
I meant dynojet kit.
http://www.dynojet.com/jetkits/motorcycle/buell.as px
But it is for carburettors. : )
Our XB9SX has injection as I know.
I am a noob in it. and As I know in order to improve engine characteristics we have to write a new program for electronic fuel injection module. I can be wrong, please correct me.
I asked you about something what can improve my engine.
Sorry for confusing you. : )

That's from a 2003 XB9S, with Buell Race ECM, Buell Race muffler, and a K&N air filter.
At the time I believe the mileage was around 40,000 miles.

My apologies, I hadn't completely read your original post.
The higher HP numbers you mentioned are indeed at the engine crank, and the lower would be at the rear wheel.
With regards to your bike being a "World Bike", I believe there is a white wire that makes your bike run within the European Specifications.
If this wire is disabled you would gain a bit of power.
If no one here knows the little white wire trick, you may want to ask here:
www.ukbeg.com
That is a great forum based in the UK.
Great people and are great community more than willing to help a fellow Bueller.
A majority of bikes in this forum are American Bikes, and don't have to wire installed from the factory.

my stock 9sx dyno'd at about 78 HP at the rear wheel, which is right about where it is supposed to be.

Most horsepower ratings are measured not at the crank, and not at the wheel, but rather at the brochure. : )

78 HP is a lot on a motorcycle. 15 HP is all you need to hit 80 mph.

My 9 here in colorado with a race ecm and d&d pipe pulled 77.4 rear wheel hp on our dyno. I'm sure a bit of fuel tuning might help it out some. And of course I want to cam it and do the heads.
That 100+ is impressive, but it's a 1200 kit...

Meaning it's so fast it will make your head move rearward thus "snapping your neck."

Do not worry. Everything is Ok.

I understand the most part of what everyone writes here about except topics where there are much slang.
I think the "language barrier" is not a big problem.

Vasiliy,
Welcome to the board!

Now that folks here have answered your question..
Take some pictures of your bike on some of the local roads that you ride on, and share with us!

I love seeing pictures of Buells from distant lands!

Speaking about Russian motorcycles, I'd have to say that the Ural 2WD is may favorite. My father worked 6 years in Russia, Tiumen to be exact, which is pretty damn cold and was telling me the tale of the Ural engine start procedure:
1. Sit on bike (with a sidecar)
2. turn petcock to "ON"
3. Light a cigarette
4. Take a drag
5. Get up on kick-starter and start engine

Failure to follow procedure will result in a fouled plug and bike will not start, when it's -5*F outside. Am I close Vasiliy?

Thank you for the invitation. I have still got no pictures of my new bike. I will take its and share with you shortly.

Before I buy Buell I have rode on Honda Steed 400 for 3 years. Here some pictures of it:

I know Ural. It is so strong bike, really for Russian men : ) Several my friends ride on it but without a sidecar.

What about instruction?! It is so funny especially the 3th and 4th steps.

I do not know how many -5F outside in degrees centigrade. But I know there is the moto festival in winter where many Urals are presented (their owners are crazy guys).

i am told that there is a tuner out there that is designed specifically for our fuel injected buells.
-it is made by direct link. i know two guys with it and it works well.
-i know that ecmspy is a free way of doing the same thing as a tuner, but ecmspy is no longer available.
-also, if you have ecmspy, does anyone know how to make a map for a certain bike/exhaust configuration?

.....and, can you use ecmspy without a race ecm? why did buell take that off the market?

-i think that a tuner or a custom map is the best/cheapest way to increase hp in rpm range.

correct me if im wrong-

im a noob too, vasiliy. and i get confused easily, too many falls/drops on my head! hahahaha

- welcome to badweb!

Jake, that is a cool pic in your profile..

You can use ecmspy with any ecm up to 2008 (i think) models.
I think the 1125R/CR ECMs are different. I could be wrong.

You can still find the ecmspy program out there.

Jake, directlink is similar to ECMspy, its writes to the ECM directly, not a piggy back module like the crap you had on your bike.

ECMspy will work perfect with all 99-2007 Buells, regardless of stock or race ecm.

Buell did not take it off the market.
http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=4&CategoryID=1&Produ ctID=2213

A good ECM tune is the cheapest way to get power out of the bike, as you can run the bike the way it was intended, not the way the government mandates.
