Okay, so I changed my crankcase and primary oil today and figured that I may as well put in a new clutch cable that I got this spring. My old one didn't have the plastic sleeve inside and the jam nut has rusted to the cable. So I get the old cable off and start tightening the new one and right when it's almost tight snap. Aww crap. So do I just cut the cable and fish the rest out, or is there a way to get a new end? I also noticed when removing the old cable that it wore a notch into my fork, how do I avoid this. I just put Helibars on this spring, should I get a Lightning clutch cable? Does anyone know how much longer the Lightning cable is compared to the Firebolt cable? Any help is truly appreciated.

I just cut the cable. I got the primary cover off and will get some drill bits tomorrow, because the rest of the end won't come out.

I'm on my third cable, they keep snapping on me! they last about a year!

Okay so I got the rest of the clutch cable out of the primary cover, via easy out, Thanks ^^. I put my old cable back on for now, there was no O ring on the old one when I took it off. Oh well it's not leaking. As for the rub, I think at some point the previous owner added an additional mount for the cable. You can see it on the ground in the bottom pic above the wrench. Anyways I think that's why it was binding too. So I got a Lightning cable and O ring coming from American Sportbike.

Yes, that end is EXTREMELY fragile. The only reason I didn't break mine is that it came with a very strict warning from American Sportbike.
