Ttags, good luck with the mods. I'd like to see the tripple tree cut out. Whatever you do, post pics.

And I'm sure you know by now, everyone is just justin balls. We are a community and without mutual respect, we've got nothin. When you make a mistake, everyone that can, will give you $hit for it. It's all fun and games, as long as you know that's all it is.

Good luck again and keep us posted with pics!!

Oh yeah, look at the bright side. As far as you knew, to bike DID weigh 600lbs. Now it only weighs 400.

Just wanted to say, Jenny Craig worked her magic once again and your bike just lost 200lbs!!

You should name it Jared.

(that's a joke)

Jake - I don't think Brandon directed that specifically at you??? When I saw the number of posts here since I gave my own answer, I eagerly clicked here to see what coool ideas fellow owners had....shoulda known better : )
Ttags - there was a post about a guy cutting a hole in his swingarm, think what you may about that (touchy subject around here) and one where a guy swiss cheesed his clutch basket?? which helped the bike rev easier so it might feel like the bike itself lost some weight.

Look at the bright side - your XB's dry weight is over 40 lbs lighter than my X1's dry weight. Dunno about you, but I've never had a problem embarrassing lighter jap bikes off the line and in the corners.

Then again my X1 has a 135 lb rider..

YOUR dealer should learn about the bikes they sell.

According to Motorcyclist Magazine:
Wet weights

XB9SX=449LBS
XB12R=462LBS

Honda CBR600RR=431
Kawasaki ZX6R=431
Suzuki GSXR600=438
Yamaha R6=423
Ducati Monster S4R=459

My Buell weighs 360 dry ; ). I guess I should weigh it...I took off the boat anchor muffler, and the heavy peg hangers...maybe it is now around 340?

pulled some brackets off today, made an aluminum liscence plate bracket,cut out 2/3 of the storage container,swiss cheesed a little bit of the rear subframe(wow tenth of an oz) at the rear section where rear seat latch mounts. I have cell phone pics ,might post at later time if people are interested...? bought some carbon fiber cloth today, so we'll see some more improvements soon... i'm buying a house this month, so modifying is always better than paying a lot of money for parts... : )

nice, what r your plans for the cf cloth? i'd like to see some pics. and im not sure if its much, but if you are swissing out your subframe, just remove your inner airbox cover, too. that is probobly 1lb worth of plastic. plus itll sound sweet and help ur bike breathe. it's a free mod!

On a karting scale, my firebolt weighed 440 lbs. That was with appx one gallon of gas and removed passenger pegs. Still had the heavy stock exhaust back then. The scale seemed reasonably accurate when I stood on it, no more than 10 lbs off considering I don't normally weigh myself wearing a bunch of motorcycling gear.
