So I went for it and bought the 2006 scg.

It has 2550 miles on it. Should I or when do I need to take it in for service?

I figure with a newer engine this needs to be done?

The service intervals are listed in the owners manual and in the service manual. I change the oil regardless on a new purchase just in case. The owners manual is on Buell.com if by some chance it didn't come with one. I recently did a photo guide on changing the oil if you want to use that for reference.

What's the link for your photo service change.

Also I know a fresh engine needs regular oil when should I switch to synthetic?

With my 03 the dealer said I should bring it in for changes because they hook it up at every service and recalobrate the computer?

Mine have been synth since the first service, which is 1000 miles.

Your dealer is most likely talking about the TPS reset, which is done at 1000 miles, 10,000 miles, and every 10k after that. It can be done with the ECMspy software.

They are full of shit, there is no "computer" to recalibrate, only the TPS. The TPS doesn't need to be reset after every oil change either. Do yourself a favor and get the Service Manual and get as far away from the dealer as possible.

Of course the Service Manual won't do TPS resets so you'll need ECMSpy which...
