I was thinking about upcoming maintenance and stuff and started thinking about tire costs. I was thinking what I could sacrifice to get more tire life and so I have determined that a good set of touring tires or long range tires would be a good investment for daily riding but keep the pirellis for "fun days" with the pitbull stands tire changes are a breeze so swapping tires for a trackday/battletrax day wouldn't be a problem. So the question I through out is what would be a good recommendation for a touring/longlife tire for an XB12RS ? | ||

I have heard that the Metzeler MEZ6's are great tires but I haven't heard any MEZ6 vs. XB12X reviews. I would like to though... You can get rear rims on EBAY for $100 (I haven't found any complete front wheel/rotor assemblies yet) so that sounds like a great idea to me... I don't remember where, but I seem to remember finding a Ti front brake rotor for an XB sold somwhere. That would make a good addition to a track bike if you could only find a front wheel w/o rotor. | ||

Actually M1 I figure I can use my 9s rims for the time being with a swap in the rear pulley for the funday pirellis so If I take the 9 to the track its already shod but if I want to hooligan it one day just swap rims. | ||

Oh yeah, I forgot you run two XB's  . Well, just consider the first sentence in the post the only worth while addition to the topic . | ||

On my 9S on the rear I run a Bridgestone BT020 , (Dual compound sports tourer, harder centre softer edges) and a BT012 on the front,(softy) They provide enough grip for me and I expect to get a minimum 7,000 miles from these.They should require replacement about the same time. still a pretty grippy combo | ||

I second the Aussie's advice. The Bridgestone BT020 is the first sport touring tire I've run that lasted significantly longer. | ||
