So pending the sale of my 74 Bronco (I know you want to buy it) I want to buy another bike. Currently have a 12R and a 12Scg. Been talking with "Bob" who owns 1125R and I need the opinions of people who already own these bikes... your pro's and cons' of the 1125CR, the X and the XT. I just don't know what kind of riding I want to do. A long distance trip is definitely in my future, however... the 1125 series would certainly be an upgrade to the bolt and the lightning. Wouldn't it be great if this was the most difficult challenge we all had to face in life? Anyway, would appreciate your opinions(other than the "I love everything, it's perfect" type, I feel your love of these bikes too).

I would look into a harley to have for long trips.

I personally like the iron 883 not super fast but low, black and very comfortable for long trips.

OH did I mention they are only like 7-8 grand.

I test rode an 1125r and a cr this spring. sweet bikes, but the cr is definitely the one for me (if I were to buy one). its just more of a hooligan bike, and the lower gearing is nice too. I'm also not crazy about the fairing on the r. the 1125 is an INSANELY fast bike, especially compared to our XBs!

the Uly is a sweet ride too. it all depends on what you want to do- go fast or tour?

for me tho, the Uly just isn't different enough from my XB9S for me to buy one as a third bike (also have a tuber), if I bought a Uly it would replace the XB and I'd add an 1125 to my garage! : )

If you are looking to do a long trip it would be difficult to do better than the XT.

In all the 44 states I've ridden Buells in . . . it occurs to me that the Ulysses was the bike I've always been looking for.

If you need LOTS more power, perhaps the 1125R but the Ulysses has tons of power for me and the way I ride.

so I'm curious. Is a '74 White Bronco going to sell for more than a tank of gas? It's not OJ's, is it?

It's not meant to be a mean comment, I'm just surprised.

" It's not OJ's, is it? "

Nope, OJ's was a 1993. :-D

'74 is a collectable body style among off-road enthusiasts.

I'm a Jeep guy but old Broncos are nice. I'll get one someday. Here's a nice '74.

I have an 08 1125R, an 06 XB12X, had a 99 S3, and traded an 04 XB12R in on the 1125.
I've made a near 8000 mile trip on the Uly and plan to do it again. The minor comfort and heat issues an individual might have are all addressed in the Big, Bad and Dirty section of Badweb. When I bought the Uly tho I was really wanting the XT which wasn't out yet. I'd prefer the lower height, especially on a long road trip. I intend to lower my Uly.
The 08 1125R and I have had our issues but but between BMC's "upgrades" (and a few of mine) it has turned into a fantastic fun bike. It's developing history reminds me of the S3's which in the end turned out to be a great bike and one of my favorites. With the exception of off idle torque the 1125 is better than the 12R in every way.
That and the 1125's "racing clutch" type action takes a little getting used to tho if you've only been riding an XB for a while. The CR is definitely the more hooligan bike if that's what you are looking for.
My 12R was a great bike and had only one minor issue (easy repair) during the whole time I had it but I wouldn't want to trade back. I could see getting a 12S for the hooligan fun of it and would prefer it over the CR for that purpose. And the 12S appears to be one of the best bikes ever to customize it's looks. (Had to add that for the XBer's). The 1125s and X/XTs are such different bikes you really have to choose between two different kinds of riding to choose between the bikes.
Which is why I have one of each!

Early Bronco.... Not the "OJ" variety. In short supply and always in demand by builders of rock crawlers and off-road enthusiasts. Seeing these rigs go for $8k in mostly stock form is not uncommon. Back to the bikes... what's the furthest anybody has taken an 1125R? When does fatigue become an issue? I realize it varies from person to person but I have to ask this because the dealer isn't going to be down for an 8 hour test drive, ya know? Has anybody ridden both the X and the XT over similar distances?

I personally think you already are not diverse enough with the SCG and the R... Same engine, same geometry... Boring!

My dream stable is a fast comfortable sport touring bike, more on the sport side, and then a super motard for just straight corner destroying, and then a track bike and a dirt bike.

Just one? You'll only give me permission to rent one?
Local dealer said they only rent the blast. As tempting as that was.... I passed.
I guess I'll be stuck with the word boring associated to my name.

I know of a friend who recently just adapted the uly pegs on a xb9sx. I did sit on it and I was actually really pleased at how much more room u get with them on.

Sell the Bolt and Scg along with the Bronco then get an 1125R AND an XT : )

Then you'll have your long distance/errand running/passenger carrying/medium to aggressive riding bike

and you'll have your aggressive to insanely aggressive riding/tear up the back roads/bat out of hell bike.

get a tuber. More character than any of the bikes mentioned, and you'll find one a lot cheaper.

I'd buy an XT over an 1125 if I had the money right now, but I've already got 3 tubers to keep me busy.

Well if you accept to venture ouotside of the Buell familly there is the KTM's that you can look at especially the Adventure 990 for long distance trips. It got lots of power, still a twin and is comfy for long rides.

There was an article on Jalopnik recently talking about how OJ single handedly killed the Bronco. Good read.

Anyway, get both!
