Best place to get Amsoil for a decent price? Going to be putting it in the engine and the tranny so I can do individual quart bottles or a gallon and an extra quart (in case it burns oil, which is likely based on how much Royal Purple this bike drinks up). Online? Store in the Bay Area? Probably going to be a little late, already 200 miles over the 2,500 interval (I am doing oil changes during the services and in the middle, so its not a big deal). | ||

I get mine from Napa auto parts. Probably not the cheapest, but you won't pay shipping, and oil is heavy! | ||

Become a preffered customer. Think it's 20 a year. I pick it up around the corner from my house at dealer price. Actually I havn't paid my membership fee in a few years but he don't care. | ||

What kind of price do you typically pay for Amsoil 20W-50 motorcycle oil in the States? Seems hard to get here in Vancouver, BC. Canadian Tire flogs it for the rip-off price of $20 + tax per quart!! And the only other retailer I can find selling it charges $15 + tax, but he doesn't keep much stock. I can order it direct from the distributor in Alberta, but then shipping gets added, and it starts to get expensive. I happened to be in Seattle last week, and grabbed 4 quarts from The Cycle Barn whilst I was there (paid $13 a quart - is this steep?) I plan to switch over to Amsoil permanently, if I can get it easily, and at a reasonable price. | ||

What is funny is here in California at Glendale Harley in L.A. they have Amsoil on the floor with its own advertising section. Hint Hint! I thought Amsoil would be the same performance as the Mobil 1. Well its better and more efficient. My bike absolutely loves it. A little more power, runs smoother 3 to 5 more miles a gallon. I use wix filters. I was getting 43 to 45 now getting 45 to 48 mpg, sometimes 50. Riding the same way as with any oil 80 to 90 cruise speeds. 150 miles a day to and from work. I bet if I bring my cruise speeds down to 70 to 75 I would get over 50 easy. I've tested the Mobil 1 20 50, 15 50 and Diesel oil. How I test the power and smoothness is cruising at 80 and then doing a top gear roll on. The Amsoil seem to pull better to 90 on to 100. Wacking open the throttle with the other oils the bike ran rough and took longer to get to those speeds. I am a believer in Ams. I would still use Mobil 1 15 50 or 20 50 in a pinch. I shouldnt have to I got a distributor right by my house. Google maps is a good tool to use. Just punch in "Amsoil Dealer your city and State" If there is any dealers they will pop up. | ||

Also pay the 20 bucks a year to be a preferred customer. 20 50 motorcycle oil is 8.25 a quart the car oil is two bucks cheaper if you want to use that. Regular price is over 10 bucks a quart for the motorcycle stuff. If you use the regular motor oil I would only recommend using it as the crank oil not the primary. I have not tested the regular motor oil in my bike. I think Amsoil is a group IV syn. The mobil 1 I believe is group III.
