I just installed the Buell Deluxe tank bag on my bike and I am wondering if anyone has any tips/tricks on what to do with the straps while riding when the bag isn't being used...? I know I saw this talked about a while ago on here but I couldn't find anything by searching. Thanks!

Leave them? I haven't used my tank bag in a few months and haven't taken the straps off.

I left the front straps in place, and just tucked the rear strap under the saddle when I had my XB12Ss. Now that I have an 1125R, I just leave the straps where they are.

Ok thanks guys... I haven't ridden without the bag yet... I thought the wind would make them bounce/flap around.

...does it have a removable velcro base plate like the old ones? My original XB tank bag has a lower part that the clips actually attach to and then the bag itself velcros to it, so I just peel the bag off and leave the bottom on.

Make up a dummy strap with a piece of elastic in the middle, cover it with a non marring fabric and connect your loose ends (er, not your personal ones, the tank bag straps) when you are not using the bag.

Court must think we're all "Suzy Homemaker" here.

Darthane, I don't think the base is removable but I'll have to check that out, thanks again for the responses.

No, but nothing to stop you from adding some. I put two small pieces (soft side) on the backs of the buckles incase they ever blow and slap the intake cover, but I really don't think they move much. The rear should fit under the seat as previously mentioned.

I just leave mine alone when I ride sans bag.
The front ones are short and don't really bounce around. At least mine don't bounce around.

The bottom one sits where it is as well but I have an airbox bra so I have no fear of the buckle messing up the airbox.

I covered the buckles with a bit of stick on velcro, the soft part so it wouldn't beat the air box so bad when the bag wasn't on. Works and I didn't need to be Suzie Homemaker to do it

Wow, tough room!!!

Back to the original question, I just leave them. The traps seem to be short enough and stout enough that they don't flop around.

I take mine off, because I just don't use the tank bag for anything but long trips. I would Martha Stewart mine, perhaps with some lace buttresses, but I'm not that ambitious or talented, and I don't want to ask for help.

Same reason I took cooking! Besides, I figured that would be a useful skill...
