I know that i heard daves or bubba talking about the fact that they got about 5 hp more with a clean filter and I wanted to treat mine right.   Bads1 Posted on Monday, March 01, 2004 - 07:23 pm:        Mookie what ya need is a K&N RECHARGER filter care service kit.It contains a cleaner and oil to retreat your filter.You can buy them at your dealer or right through Daves or Bubba.The kit costs about $12.00 and its good for several cleanings.   Wyckedflesh Posted on Tuesday, March 02, 2004 - 02:04 am:        That is if you have th eK&N Filter. If you have a stock filter the best you can do is blow air through the filter from the inside (throttlebody side) out. It should blow alot of the clogging off the filter material. I have cleaned it and reoiled it. Im not sure if its supposed to be white again after cleaning but i thought i did a pretty good job and then oiled it pretty good. now im waiting for my new lid to arrive so that I can go test my clean air filter with my new 12 airbox. btw. it seems that my fuel line is too long with the 12 airbox. Shortening it shouldn't hurt anything. Rich   Xb9er Posted on Thursday, March 04, 2004 - 01:14 pm:        Yeah if you are talking about the flexible tubing that drapes over the air cleaner cover, that is the fuel vent tube not the fuel line. You probably just pulled it up too high when you took off the air cleaner cover. The XB9 and XB12 air cleaner covers are the same size. You need enough length on it so that the exit end (rigid plastic tubing) is routed through the clamp inside the left foot peg bracket. Once the air cleaner cover is back on, you need to push the fuel vent tube through from the airbox down. Make sure it points straight down and extends as far down as it can. If the tube exits back toward the swingarm, the swingarm finish may get discolored or damaged after a while by gasoline vapor and the occasional squirt of liquid gasoline. edited by xb9er on March 04, 2004
