I crashed my '07 XB12S six weeks ago and have healed pretty good, but my bike isn't right yet. I lowsided on the left (left hand corner) and have replaced the broken pieces there. I think the bike spun some and the top of the swingarm and the rear caliper took a hit from the curb. The rear disk was rubbing, so I replaced the bracket, thinking it had been tweaked. Well, it still rubs. Do you think that the swingarm was tweaked? Are there any measurements I can make to confirm if it is OK or not? I haven't tried unscrewing the axle, which could show binding. Any ideas? | ||

try unscrewing the axle this happened to me on the right side and the concrete had tightned the axle so this may not be what is wrong with yours but it couldn't be bad to check. get axle sliders to avoid this in the future | ||

Gonna need more than sliders to stop a curb... I too would check the axle, possibly just outright replace it even if it still looks good. | ||

The swingarm and caliper hit on the top and my sliders didn't totally protect them. The impact is felt either way and I will unscrew the axle to see if binding is there. The axle binds as I unscrew it. I'll get my buddy to check it for straightness on his lathe. Doesn't look good for dodging a new swingarm. (Message edited by ducbsa on June 18, 2009) | ||

Today I tried to screw the axle in to mount the wheel and the thread won't start. I need the lift for the other bike, so I have my work cut out for me. The axle thread starts without the wheel while binding, so it must be just enough that it is difficult with the wheel in place. I'll file the start of the thread off for half a revolution and try that. This will be easier after I save up for a new swing arm. |
