I've been looking at these 'static' balancers some of yall have talked about. Here's my question: I can see how they work but it seems that's balancing 'top to bottom'. Is there any 'worry' about balancing side to side, ie does it matter which side of the wheel you put your balancing weight on??? Do the spin balancers(I guess they make them for bikes as they do for cars???) work the same way or do they also determine side to side balance also... I was thinking that the wheels on my firebird had some weights on either side... And yea, I realize that auto wheels are much wider... I was going to get some tires mounted the next few months and was curious so when I asked how they balanced them I would know if they were bs ing me... Thanks,Kevin |

The type of balancing you are referring to is dynamic balancing. It is important on cars due to the width of the wheels, but in the motorcycle biz most of the time the wheels are statically balanced only. However, if the amount of weight needed is one ounce or greater I place half of the total amount on each side of the rim. |

We use a Corghi dynamic balancer which can accomodate the new Buell wheels. The XB series takes the wheels weights on the disc side only.
