I was riding home tonight and looked down and im going 0 miles per hour. Rpm still works and so do the lights just the needle on the speedo is dead. I know someone else had this problem; my question is how long did it take harley to replace the part? do i have to leave the bike with them for weeks? Working two full time jobs gives me a 30 min lunch every day in which i can make it to harley. Therefore Drop off's with the bike and pick ups are very hard.

ok I had this problem too.........

Took it town to DG20 in Southampton and their guru tech took the sensor out, it had Oil and sworf and some other shite on it.....

He replaced it and its now fine, however he said the other one would have worked had he cleaned the crap off.

Just take it out and wipe it over with a clean rag, its a magnetic jobby so little bits of metal and crap tend to clog it up.

Yes, try cleaning it. Mine went bad though too. Good news. Dealer can replace it in about 30 min.
Make an appointment.

When you take the bike in, Tell the tech you want the new upgrade lit to change it over to a 5 vdc reference. If they don't know what you are talking about, Tell them to check the online tech tips for the last few months for more information or have them call Tech service.

Its a bolt and a couple cable ties on the tube framers, can't be much worse on the XB's. They ought to able to do it in the parking lot in 15 minutes.

Cleaning them very rarely fixes them for long. Take anony's advice, or you will be right back in there a month from now.
