Just installed a x-soft ezclutch ramp on my 04 XB.... It makes a huge difference!!! lubed the cable and adjusted the clutch at the same time. the thing cost $35, and ive had it for 2 months sitting around.... Should have stuck it on the day i got it. | ||

Much easer pull, does not change anything else. The ramps are much larger/longer and give you more mechanical advantage. The x soft is darn easy to pull and hold in during traffic. Maybe I should have tried the XX soft... | ||

I did it when i was changing the primary oil. took no time at all. 10-15 min maybe. Need to adjust the clutch when you are doing it, and may as well lube the cable. Give yourself an hour. | ||

I got mine from phatpreformance. They also have a UNI air filter made for the XB. The service book will tell you how to loosen the clutch cable (back off the set nut and loosen the adjuster nut to give free play, give it alot of free play and remove it from the clutch perch). generaly you remove the clutch cable and connect a cable lubeing tool and spray. what i did not know was that the lube would start flying out of the adjusting nuts... got the stuff everywhere. actually had wash the bike  i did not remove it from the primary, but you are probably supposed to. easy if you have the tool (like $10 i think and American Sport Bike carries em). All cables should be lubed as regular scheduled maintaince. you need to give it a bunch of free play any way to remove the ramps. also - i would recoment the xx soft one. the x soft one is alot better and i got it becouse i did not know if that much reduction would still allow me to feel the friction zone. now that i have it i dont think there would have been any problem going with the ever softer pull IMHO FWIW and YMMV. I bought the free spirits soft clutch from Trojan..... Very nice. There all similar and pretty easy to install. | ||

in the pics it looks like the mueller is the whole sha-bang, but if you can get the same results by just replacing the one side of the ramp, why spend the extra $? so whats the big diff. between the mueller and the rest? other than the price. -duh- basically, what i'm asking is why does it cost so much more and is it worth it? | ||

thats weird, after I installed mine (xxsoft ezpull) I found the clutch catch point to be a lot shorter than the stock one....maybe cause I went xx. | ||

Dont know bout that one. Mine is the same, as far as i can tell, only easer to pull. |
