So Im getting pretty comfortable with my bike and all. Leaning well into turns, loving the new PR2's I just put on yesterday!! The bike is light and all, but I made a big mistake. I'm in rush hour traffic at a stop light in downtown Minneapolis. (any Buell turns heads, with my pipes, I know everyone was looking). I forgot to tighten up my belt and my pants were falling down past my ass. So at the light I took a second to pull 'em up. Bad move! The bile started to tip, my thumbs were in my belt loops and by the time I got a hold of the bars, I was just doing what I could to let her down soft. It ended up breaking my bar end mirror (third eye) Snapped my left rider peg off. And......that's it! My paint and frame were both saved!! How, I don't know- but damn! I'm happy. I had the lead position at the light in the right lane and it flooded out, so I had to stop traffic and push it to the sidewalk with my tail between my legs.........(somehow my pants stayed up on walk/push to the sidewalk) 3rd eye mirror- $8 Foot peg. - $25 Lookin like a complete fool- priceless!! I guess it'll be a good story to tell my kid someday about how he should wear some pants that fit.......all I can do is laugh about it. | ||

Your lucky that paint is ok! I had a similar drop on the right side and now my pipe has a small dent in it that is driving me nuts! | ||

The right side woulda been way bad- my pipes would be ruined instead of dented.... Yeah, I figured I'd get a clap or somthin. Oh, I was in the far left lane and had to stop traffic to push it across 3 lanes of traffic. | ||

Hey dont feel bad as you see we all have similar stories,here is mine.I was on a trip in Pennsylvania with couple other friends stopped at a harley shop on the way to D.C. As we were leaving 5 or so "hardcore" harley guys were watching us leave. The lot was a very slight downgrade as you back out of the parking spots, so I decided to back out fast and get beyond were my friends were parked so they could go first. Well, going backward then turning the bars was a bad idea all weight shifted immediately caught me off guard and I went down on right side, I nursed it all the way to the ground as best I could, so much so it pinned me under the bike. Believe it or not every one of those "harley" guys came to my rescue.However my pride was on the ground to and i'm sure I was conversation filler at their next cookout. Only damage I had was a bent front brake lever but it was still functional. So I got out lucky also but didn't notice lower RH swing arm ding/scratch until I got home, it was barely visible you should check yours. Needed those axle sliders! | ||

If you can't stomach intentionally knocking over your bike, you bought the wrong bike. Be glad that the Buell's can be fixed in most knock overs for under $50. I lost count of the times I have crashed, dropped, or kicked over my Uly. Oh, and its fuel injected, it didn't flood. There is a sensor on the bike called the Bank Angle Sensor (BAS). It kills your engine should you ever have a spill. Cycle the kill switch and your good to go again. | ||

Yeah I did something very similiar when I first got my bike, oh well live learn and go on. If yo do not have them I sugest go buy frame pucks ASAP or nest time you might not be so lucky. | ||

Yes on the bank angle sensor. I never know WHY these tip-overs happen with an audience. Our local BRAG group was going to ride out to a BattleTRAX at Camarillo as part of American Thunder (Steve Natt). I had an early 2003 and along with Timbo (Tim Horton) - we were the non-tubers and were going to be filmed and interviewed. So there I am backing my few-weeks-old XB to the curb... stopped and didn't quite get the kickstand down and it tipped over as I dismounted. So... I'm heading in to the parts counter for a new footpeg and turn signal while Timbo is doing the interview. Fortunately, that little "crash" of mine never made the final cut for that episode. Timbo's interview looked great. Oh well, so much for fame. | ||

It feels good to not be the only one- AndyMNelson: thanks for the peg. I'm heading out to St Paul right now. Froggy/Slaughter: thanks for the heads up. Fuel injected and I think it can flood. Geez, foot in mouth to go with tv busted pride. | ||

Yep. Me too. When I first got it I dropped mine in the grass and broke my brake lever. Easy fix and I was ready to go. No audience thankfully. | ||

I dropped my 1125 one night in a parking lot at a local bike night. I was backing out of a space and stepped in a oil spot where cars park and went down, tried to catch it but it happened so damn fast all I could do was let it down easy as possible. | ||

About 15 years ago, I was in the HD dealer's parking lot on my new 883 Sportster. Well I had a similar experience like Spdrxb, I dropped her down while backing up, only difference, I damaged the left back signal and pegs..since I'm a comedian by nature, when it happened, instead of freakin out, I approached the first dude standing there and I pointed to my laid down bike and said..."I bet you can't do that stunt" They all started laughing and helped my put with getting the bike up! I then rode all the way back home with a signal light held by duck tape and a bent, but usable peg....and well, mumbling the "F" word over and over and over until I got home! Yes, I've been there too! Glad you are okay and un-hurt! | ||
