Author Message   Fullpower Posted on Thursday, February 26, 2004 - 03:27 pm:        installed the Kimpex grip heaters on lightning have a hundred miles or so on them. they reach full heat in 5 minutes. in 40 degree temps, low heat is ok. rode to work this morning, 28 degrees i left them on high for 10 miles. very nice. highly recommend the product. very easy installation they are self adhesive i glued the grips back on over the heaters. will give an update after a few hundred hours, or if i have any problems...... dean   Roc Posted on Thursday, February 26, 2004 - 05:13 pm:        Dean - I have installed and used two types of heated grips on bikes: the under grip style and the in bar style - http://snowmobiles.ridegear.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/shop/Snow_Grips/F-2895_Hand lebar_Heaters.html?E+scstore . I would recommend people go with the latter. It is less expensive, the wires are hidden, and it is hotter - I thought too hot until one miserable day last month. For the money I think this is the best accessory a bike can have, both for safety and comfort.   Fullpower Posted on Thursday, February 26, 2004 - 05:52 pm:        roc agreed. i have been building inside-the handlebar heaters for all the harleys in my family, and for a few friends. i use 25ohm, 10watt resistors, quantity 8. all in parallel. 4 resistors in each end of the bar. work real good, takes about 10 minutes to get full heat going. not enough room to install this set-up in the 7/8 inch od buell bars. so experimenting with kimpex. just had a run to top of baycrest to fetch lunch. 31 degrees ambient, only a 4 mile putt, but nice warm hands all the way. i dont know how long the exposed wiring will last.   Azfirebolt Posted on Thursday, February 26, 2004 - 06:05 pm:        heated grips? Around $25. Azfirebolt - you should wear gloves any time you are on an mc.
