just for varification i have a black 08scg

over the weekend i debadged my windscreen. upon doing so, i noticed that some of the glue didnt come off with the emblem so i have been trying to work it off with some goo gone and soap and water. there is still now an outline of where it was (not sun fade) now from doing all this the plastic is dull. i have plastic polish, but it doesnt seem to be working...

ideas on removing all the glue and polishing?

When I debadged my white 9R there was an outline of where the emblems were. After a few washings and some time they finally faded away. I even tried high cut rubbing compound and nothing touched it. Time heals all wounds, lol. Or you could paint it.

Go to your autoparts store and look for a headlight polishing kit. It is used to restore old yellowing plastic headlights on cars. It comes with a buffer (sponge ball that attaches to a drill) and a buffing compound. Hope this helps.

WD40 usually breaks down glues. Haven't tried it here but it would be my first choice.

Whatever you put on it I'd try a little in an inconspicuous spot just to be sure it doesn't discolor your plastics.

Try using Meguiar's PlastX. It works great for me on my translucent parts. I scratched up my airbox cover really bad trying to get the badges off. It cleaned it up real nice. It made it look bran new. I got it at Pepboys. Or Novus 2 works really good also.

I have not tried it on the bike yet, but I use pledge spray on the four wheeler after i wash it. just spray on and wipe off. Gives it a nice orange smell and shine too. : )
i have used it also on my toyota tacoma. (the black fender flares) and it fixed where the sun was turning it whiteish gray. It lasts for about a week or two black and shiny.

I think they come blank if you order them, at least this is the case with the airbox.

Dealership, pn m2600.1admw is the midnight blk. You'd have to order the emblem. Cost out of the '08 catalog shows $64.50.

No emblem, must be ordered as well if you want it. Double check @ the dealer but, parts rag shows no emblem.

Try stepping it up a notch to Novus 3, and work your way back to 1.

question for your niceguy, when i called the dealership today they told me that they show a different part number for the windscreen for my bike. this one has the emblem on it and costs 71 dollars. when i told him the part number you gave me, he said it came up but didnt say what it fit. so what catalog are you looking out of again? i would like to figure this out today

Its a different part number because it lacks the decal. It doesn't say what it fits because it doesn't come stock on any bike. All Lightning models use the same flyscreen, with the difference being the decals or colors. Just make them order that part number, or contact one of the Badweb sponsors and give the number.

The new catalog should be coming out at about the same time as the 2010 announcements in a few weeks.
