All my riding partner is seriously considering an XB9s . . . . . she's had at least a small windscreen in the pat on all her bikes, and like the idea of having one on the new XB . . . . anyone fitted something with a tad more weather protection on an XB S series? thanks | ||

Bomber, congrats to Brook if she gets the XB9S, I know from having a windscreen on the Blast that it REALLY is a big difference and takes some getting used to it !! So I'm interested in hearing the answer to that question myself !! CJ  | ||

...the answer is "Tank Bag"! A tank bag will deflect all of the wind hitting your chest, and the wind hitting your helmet is manageable up to about 80-90mph, at which point you can simply lay on the tank bag to reduce the buffeting. After all, your not riding a Gold Wing! Of course, the great thing about the 9S is that when the buffeting becomes excessive, you could simply roll off the throttle a bit and ENJOY the ride! | ||

Bomber, See if one of these will work. Their mounting is adjustable enough to work on a wide variety of applications. Not having an XB handy I don't know how well these will adapt though. The F16 tour or F15 Tour might be just the ticket for her, found under the sport shield link. Daves, You might look into these as a stocking item. They fit Ducati's too and are good for those early/late season marginal temp dew-damp rides. I had a StreetShield on a Honda for many years and it held up very well. The rod pocket adhesive finally gave way after about 8-10 years, but took a hard accidental knock from the rear to get it to give way (some 2x4's are longer than they appear ). | ||

I was thinking of bugging Al over at american sport bike about a possible replacement windscreen with an extension for the XBs models. One that comes up and has additional bracing similar to the aftermarket bolt ons that attach to the bars. One that uses the existing 4 bolts but that pushes the wind up to hit higher. I have a couple ideas of what I think could work but nothign laid out on paper yet. | ||

Wycked, I would love something like that. I have been looking for one since I bought the bike. Someone could easily take the stock fly screen and add an inch or two on either side and three or four inches up top. It would still look good and deflect a lot more wind. | ||

I have thought of this myself.I have talked to a plastic company and told me to bring the bike over and they will see what they can do.I was thinking of a smoked piece of Lexan cut to the shape of the windscreen on there now but a little taller then i will put the stock windscreen over it | ||

I also had the Buell windshield on my Blast. It was a nice wind blocking device but it directed more of the air to my helmet. I bent down when it got too bad. Also, it affected the handling of the Blast, not so much better or worse, just different. Overall I liked it. I wonder, though, how the "quirky" handling on the XB would change with a windshield. For now I'll let the wind blast be spread more evenly on my torso and head and just dress for the weather. Prof | ||

I put a National Cycle Streetshield EX on my wifes XB9S. It fits over the stock flyscreen. I tried to get a pic in my shop today. But between the darkness of the shop and a really cheap digital camera I couldn't get a good pic. I believe I have some on a film camera. Will post as soon as I can get them develeped. We both have had the bike up over 90mph without any ill effects on handeling. Kim | ||

If I am not mistaken, the older lightnings had a similar but larger fly screen. I would think that one does a bit better job but still looks trick and preserves handling. Anyone have one to see if it will adapt. Is the Buell factory listening. Aftermarket and all that. | ||

I have a customer who has a XB12S and he bought a second flyscreen,cut it and mounted it behind the stock one. LOoks a little funny but he says it works pretty well. | ||

Dcmortalcoil, Its mounted to handelbar and fork tubes. National Cycles standard four point mount system. I put auto type clearbra plastic on the flyscreen at points where vibration may cause contact. Kim |
