I read in Fuell mag or maybe somewhere else that the reason Buell did not put a right sided air scoop on the xb was that the turbulence actually caused the rear cylinder to not get enough air. Something like that. It seems everyone on here who has one claims that their fan hardly ever comes on now. If the fan does not come on as much, then the rear cylinder must be running cooler.
Now the questions. Where is the rear cylinder temp sensor located? Is it internal? If it was more external, the air may actually be cooling the sensor.
Why does Buell put right sided scoops on the 1125r bike? I am sure Buell did the testing on a right sided scoop.
If it is true about the air turbulence thing, why is the fan not coming on then?
They seem so dam expensive and I understand the cost of making an original mold. Why doesn't Buell make and sell one? Would certainly be cheaper.

i can answer a few. Buell Put a RRS on the 1125r because its actually two radiators and its liquid cooled there for it is a completely different motor. They didn't put it on the XB because they found in some situations that it would cause vapor lock IIRC. Buell doesn't offer a RRS because they believe it doesn't help.

I run a right side scoop.

There I said it!!

Been running it for about 15,000 miles: no vapor lock yet.

I use Trojan Horse low profile intakes . I dont see them on their site any more. I like them because they make the bike look nice from both sides. I did not like the original left side scoop very much.

The sensor is screwed into the top of the head, in what looks to be the center of the combustion dome.

Here is the link to some testing I did, with a right side Big Air scoop, a while back.

1125 is an Austrian motor not an H/D.I have a RRS on mine that I bought from American Sport Bike.My fan does NOT run as much and I have never had it vapor lock and I live in the South.I'm still not sure if it was worth the $240.00 it cost me.But it does look more balanced with a scoop on both sides.

I have a right side scoop, it's just smaller than the left side scoop. It works quite well for directing air where it needs to go.

LOL @ Andy.

I've heard about the vapor lock, but never seen anyone come up with definitive proof. On the other hand, I DID see something, I believe it was from a Buell employee, that stated the fan could not move enough air around the cylinder while sitting still if it was opened on both sides.

Try the search feature... that will provide you with enough arguments on this topic for a week's worth of reading.
