ok well I am going to be selling off my buell race exhaust and have finally started on the exhaust since I have it tore down for the paint. The question is who out there has pics of a D&D exhaust that goes on a XB?I need all the pics and as many angles as possible as I can get inside and out.So if you have a D&D pipe off your bike and you can get a pic of the inside I would realllllllly appreciate it.I am going to be making something similar to it but unsure what to buy for the exhaust it looks like a cherry bomb set up to me but I really want pics to verify. |

OHHHH also can someone measure the tips coming out of the D&D.It looks as though they used a smaller than 2" pipe for the tips. I am looking at mainly doing this mod for loudness and ground clearance and it would be alot easier to use my lift/jack. |

I mean its not like no one here has pics of there D&D pipe /when they bought it/washed it/mounted it....anything thanks for being BAD badweatherbikers........ I hope all of you that posted on this thread never need a answer because if you do I hope nobody helps you. |

Hey Vortec you can get a good look at a steak by sticking you head up a bulls ass but wouldn't you rather take the butcher's word for it? Haha--Tommy Boy. In other words...can't you take a picture through the outlet? Surely no one expected anyone to cut their muffler open and take a picture. Fast, dude...calm down. It hasn't even been 24 hours. You posted at 11pm last night. Let's say somebody (like me) reads the forum at work and has pictures of their D&D at home (not like me, sorry) they wouldn't have had a chance to post them yet. Patience is a virtue...good things come to those who wait...whatever. If I had the pics I would gladly send them to you, actually I may have some pics of a D&D one a buddy's bike. I didn't take them so I don't know exactly what they show but I'll look when I get home tonight. Feel better? |

Search here? Youtube has several videos, look there? Ever think that a company that makes it that hard to find pictures of its product, is a not-for-profit company and why bother with their product? Relax before you go all "the King" on us and shoot your computer. |

Edited First off the reason I got "******=angry" is last time I did a exhaust mod and asked a question Buelltroll ran his little "****=urine" ant mouth then also so here he is running his "****=lolli pop" sucker again. Zatco81 thank you for answering my question if people where more like you then I wouldnt get annoyed. I did look here and after seriously 100 or so threads and not finding the info I wanted I figured I would post a thread asking for it.....I guess thats what I get for asking for something on a forum....... it's got almost 20k mi on it, and has not been re-packed. nor do i intend to. this last winter i did sand-blast and re-paint it with some VHT ceramic exhaust manifold paint, and at 7 dollars a can, i got my moneys worth. if it's worth doing right, it's worth doing again. so i'm gonna tear it off hopefully some time soon, and have it powder coated like it should be done. i'm thinking blue, to match the body. but if i do do it any time soon, (he he he .... i said 'do do') i'll remember to get some more shots of it and send 'em to ya, so you can better fab yers. now for your end of the bargain: i request you post up pics of your creation for us to criticize and or applaud.

o i'm gonna tear it off hopefully some time soon, and have it powder coated like it should be done. i'm thinking blue, to match the body. I liked the look of the blue pipe on another thread and so I checked around. Krylon has an interesting metallic anodized blue heat paint that looks very interesting. Requires a special base coat. |

i'm guessing that ANY paint won't hold up to the elements. from what i understand, powder coating is like a plastic, that melts together, and also is grabbed by the metal lattice structure as it cools and contracts. i'd really rather not ride in the rain, but i'm not gonna stay at work to wait for it to let up. fast, please post up if there is any specific pics you need. |

Nillaice Thank you very much for the pics and all your help.Is it at all possible for you to measure the pipe tip inner diameter and the resonator length? I found a resonator just like those to use but they only come in 8",12" or 15" lengths so hopefully one is close. Also can you get a few pic's of a side shot similar to this http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www. sportsbikes.org/bike_images/buell/Buell-xb12r-478. jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.sportsbikes.org/bikes.php %3FBuell_xb12r%26p_id%3D179&usg=__0JDj_BbUgFuigcMa ORsTF71oQzw=&h=394&w=600&sz=63&hl=en&start=38&um=1 &tbnid=-3SFGP7udoj3CM:&tbnh=89&tbnw=135&prev=/imag es%3Fq%3DD%2526D%2Bbuell%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26r ls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us%26sa%3DN%26start%3D20%26u m%3D1 but closer so I can use it to line up the lengths with the primary side and timing/belt side. I will post up a thread later with all the work ive done on the bike it still has the race pipe on it as my bro wont get it till im done with my custom pipe.I dont have pics of the exhaust yet as I want to source all the right parts so I only have the elbow so far which I welded together using 2 90 degree bends. |

fast, sorry to piss you off so much, but geeze you're asking for inside pics of a pipe, its hard to peek inside without some chopping or something. Aside from that, why not build on your own, instead of trying to take away someone elses intelectual property and directly copy it. |

Vortec57 it wasent you it was the troll sorry if I took it out on you.It is annoying if you post a question and you always have the same jerk making dumb comments following you around the board.Dunno maybe he just has a crush on me.Here you go troll is this what you like I am not getting all this info to directly copy it.I just know this fits and works so I am getting all that info to help me make mine fit and work since it will be a similar build with cherry bomb resonators.I plan on using a bit smaller inner diameter pipe to give me better back pressure since it will be a flow through design. |

what ever he makes won't be an actual D&D. if he was going to produce them and try to pass them off as the real deal, i'm sure he'd make enuff $$ to cover the cost of an exhaust to transfer measurements. in my endeavors, if i try my own hand at it i will end up buying whatever product i was trying to replicate after much toil, sweat, and creating a few new curse words. not to mention spending at least half the price of the product in just materials, only to toss it in the scrap bin when it is all said and done. and what about the cost of my time and effort? |

not to discourage you, fast. i don't even have a garage to work in. all my projects are done in the driveway with the tailgate as my workbench. i know there is always a proper tool for the job. but no sense in buying the proper tools, if i have no where to keep them from theft. hope that puts it in perspective. |

Fast, Please consider what I am going to say. (No, not about that) Looking at Nillaice's pictures, I can see there is enough room for this idea. Use 2 different length cherry bombs side by side to make the muffler pack. If you use same length pipes, you get 2 mouths making the same tone. BORING. If you use 2 different ones you get 2 different tones. EXCITEMENT! I am a long ways from making my own right now, but want to hear some music out there. When I make my own I want to put it together in such a fixture as to be able to swap different length pipes in and out to get the sound I like. Copying is fine, but don't hope for anything better than what is already done. |
