Hi all,
Does anyone know of any effective solutions to securing a helmet to a Firebolt?

I have an 05 XB12R and am tired of always carrying my helmet around when I get to places!

It would be really nice to hook it onto the bike and lock it up.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You could use the helmet lock cable that came in the tool kit.

or I bought a small 90 degree angle metal bracket from the local hardware store and screwed it to the frame in the box under the rear seat.
now I unlock seat
put helmet d-link over bracket
reinstall seat
good to go.

Yeah that cable doesnt seem like it would do that well.

I did see a kuryaken helmet lock that goes onto a license plate for a harley but not sure if it would fit on a buell. I will check that out tomorrow hopefully.

Again tried using the search engine... I think it might be down? I get a blank page whenever i try searching anything on two different computers.

I think poppin has the solution, but it sounds like it might hinder luggage space, but its not like anyone keeps anything in there much.. elliott and myself both have R's like yourself can you throw in some picks poppin? I usually dont give a true thought hanging at bike nights or anywhere for the matters; well yes it is at the back of my mind that my helmet might get stolen, bite the bullet. I put my helmet lodged onto the right handlebar and the fairing, it fits good there : D

No need to apologize - I hate this board's search function. The other thread did have some good ideas and pics though.

i mean if yer gonna take the time to tap and thread, ya might as well just put a 1/4-20 bolt in there. remember to apply some thread locker.

I hang the helmet on the right side passenger peg, and lock it to the bracket with a simple gun lock. The lock fits under the seat when not in use.

Cables strong enough for walk-away thefts, just enough to keep people honest. No point over-engineering, the criminals who are planning to take your helmet, will check it out and come back with the right tools. And check out your bike as well.

I would look at the small bicycle helmet lock that was posted a while ago, simply for its convenience.

I pick up one of these.

Cheap. Fits easily in a pocket or under the seat (at least on my lightning). Long enough to get a second helmet on.

Here is what I did, small 90 bracket and machine screw from local hardware.
once you hang the helmet put back on the seat and secured.

Here is how i used the cable, sorry it took a few days..oh also it holds nice and tight. i might turn alittle in place while moving but not to bad.oh and the plastice box is not there so that helps, also give u a little bit more room, just put a piece of card board above battery so u dont lose to much of ur small stuff.

I used hooks like the same way the others above used the bolts or angle iron. It works really well, cheap and efficient.

+1 Gnut. "This helmet protected by Beretta."

Go around the chinguard, cuz if you just use the chinstrap any kid with a scissors can have a new toy.

I installed a Uly lock on my bike so that I can use my ignition key to unlock/lock it.
