I gave in this morning and made the 100 mile one way trip to my closest buell service dept. to drob my 03' xb9r off for a few days.. I posted early last week about the insane idle and no power..

After a TPS and AFV reset the bike seemed to idle ..But poorly.. and yes.. I did it right.

My idle still jumps from the low 700's to high 1,500' and with no leaks to be found it was kind of my last resort. I just wanted a second opinion on what you guys may think.. Fuel pump sounds like crap.. Won't idle.. No power till 4k clunking in engine.. sounds like change in a washer machine. If i adjust the tps to factory settings.. it want's to idle too low.. If i ride it.. It idles too high.. any one delt with this before? the good thing.. is.. The dealr wont charge me if they don't find a problem. but in this case I hope they do. If you're in the portland area.. i (so far) love paradise harly/buell. I just hope my love for them ..Fixes my damn bike.

With all the dealer horror stories on here I wish you luck. It would be nice to have a positive dealer experience posted up.

Sorry man I haven't got a clue I would say its an air or vacum rather leak and its overheating and making the valves ping but without hearing it or seeing it who knows

Bad TPS? I had a Mitsubishi that the tps went bad on and they do exactly that.

I ran diagnostics on everything I could.. my fan comes off and on.. fuel pump cycles.. injectors click.... what's weird is the coils don't make any noice.. Generally.... But yesterday while testing.. one 'POOFED' ???... I think for the rear cyl.?

Tested again..and nothing tht time?

The dealer has been fairly cool with me so far..Even gave me a next to nothing clutch cable when I was in need.. I payed.. under 80%..... They said they would dyno run it a couple times to see what they could get figured out.. and try and trouble shoot.. and still charge me one hour.. even it if takes them 5. If it's little crap like the coil pack, fuel pump..starter... crap like that.. I don't mind fixing my self... Timing.. valves.. rings .. lifters.. I'll leavethat to people who are paid to have patience with these machines.

Maybe a bad O2 Sensor? Had a car do the idle "hunt" with a bad sensor...

Do you know someone with the same bike? Try swapping ECMs and then do a tps reset.

Also try to disconnect the air intake temp sensor. It's located in the airbox.

I dont know anyone witht the same bike.. everyone here is into r6's and Gsxr's I am one of a kind.. I like that.

I did try unplugging the AIT sensor.. And it didnt help one bit.. the o2 sensor COULD be bad.. But i guess I will know when they call me back when ever they get to it... There were no trouble codes when I ran and searched for them.

I was also thinking it could be a bad Throttle pos. sensor. But Im not electrical whizz. Im hoping someone can chime in that's had this very same problem..

But any info is a help. especially for future ref. as I KNOW... it will break down again.

TPS, Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Cable, Coil Pack, O2 Sensor, Engine Temp Sensor, Bad TPS. Those would be my current guesses, I'm leaning towards the bad TPS. When you zeroed out the TPS and AFV, what was the AFV at?
