Ok so I bought my 2006 xb9s used with 7000 miles. Rode it for the past month. I ordered mobil vtwin oil from amazon, $59 and free shipping for a case of 6. Anyway, I did both the primary and the engine oil with the mobil v-twin. Engine sounds so much quieter and feels super smooth. The clutch also shifts smoother than ever, cannot believe the difference. The oil out of the engine was black as expected, the oil from the primary came out thick and tan colored. Any idea what oil that was, being tan?

If it smelled rank (like rotten eggs) it was probably some sort of gear oil (~75W-90). Gear oil does not appear to be good for Buell stators.

oil and water turn tan, it's from condensation inside the primary, or water getting passed the clutch adjuster boot

Yep, it's condensation. Well known as a Buell latte...

Basically the bike isn't being continuously ridden long enough.

That is not a problem now. It gets ridden all the time. I know the previous owner was from maine, don't know how long it was at the dealer. Anyway, glad I changed the oil x 2.
