I've used the search engine an didn't find anything. If I've overlooked a thread please point me in the right direction. I just rode from Arkansas to Washington state. About 500 miles into the 2nd day my 08XT started cutting out like someone was turning the kill switch on and off. I pulled in and gassed up and it stopped cutting out for about 30 miles and then started missing again. I pulled over and let it cool until the fan quit and turned the ignition on and off 3 times and let it cycle through the ignition sequence each time. Then I turned off the kill switch an repeated the 3 cycles. It ran fine till the end of the day. The next day it ran fine for 2 tankfuls and then started missing again. I repeated the switch sequence and stopped missing. Does anyone have any idea whats causing this? | ||

I'd lean to a grounding problem somewhere, either a ground that has poor contact OR a wire shorting out. My STT did something like that when I picked it up new, they had pinched the wiring with the battery. BUT the smarter guys'll be along soon! | ||

+1 on a ground problem see if you can notice if the lights also flicker and you loose dash when it happens perhaps someone riding with you can check it | ||

MAy or may not be a sensor screwing up too... Sometimes them Rear cylinder temp. sensor can screw up...Room for thought. | ||

I had a similar thing happen to mine. It was the clutch safety switch. I just unplugged it and put a jumper wire between the two terminals. Haven't had a problem for almost a year now. Matt |
